An important character from the series The Rings of Power dies in season 2. As a farewell, the actor of the character received a macabre gift.
Attention Spoiler: We reveal in the article the death of an important character from the series. If you haven’t seen season 2 yet, you should come back here only after watching. You have been warned.
Which character is it? Celebrimbor is an extremely important figure in the world of Middle-earth. He forged the titular Rings of Power, which were subsequently passed on to the Elves, Dwarves, and Men. Sauron himself had given him this task in a concealed form, and in the end, he forged the One Ring himself.
Celebrimbor dies during the second season of The Rings of Power. Thus, an important character from the series bids farewell, whose actions essentially led to the events of The Lord of the Rings.
For the actor of the character, Charles Edwards, the journey thus comes to an end. However, as a farewell, he received a gift that he did not expect.
Not for the faint of heart
What was given as a farewell? Often, actors are allowed to take a prop or even a costume home as a keepsake after filming. In the case of Charles Edwards, however, the production had a different idea.
The actor received a small miniature model showing his character Celebrimbor being impaled on a tree. It is a replica of a scene that appears similarly in the series. In a vision from Galadriel, Celebrimbor already meets a gruesome end – which is not unlike his actual demise from Sauron’s arrow attack. Galadriel herself is one of two characters that were changed for the series.
As Edwards told GamesRadar+, the model was a small version of the scene created during the conception phase of the series. Although the actor would have preferred to take home a different prop, the macabre model still satisfies him.
The end of season 2 was quite dramatic, and it is likely that a third season will continue in a similar manner. However, it has not yet been officially confirmed by Amazon. Charles Edwards may not be there anymore. It’s a shame because he put in a lot of effort: For the Amazon series of The Lord of the Rings, there is an expert who taught the actors Tolkien language
