Nintendo has already announced that there will be a live-action series based on The Legend of Zelda. Now it is known who will take on the roles. However, fans desire one thing that is closely related to the games.
Who are the actors? Shigeru Miyamoto is a game designer and director at Nintendo and the creator of The Legend of Zelda. He announced on X who will take on the roles of Link and Princess Zelda:
- The radiant hero Link will be played by 16-year-old Benjamin Evan Ainsworth. He can be seen, for example, as Alex Burgess in an episode of The Sandman.
- Bo Bragason takes on the role of Princess Zelda. You might know her from her role as Roxy Jackson in Renegade Nell.
So far, neither of the two actors has had a breakthrough with an international hit. In this context, Miyamoto tweeted a picture of the two actors. He would be happy to see them on the big screen.
When will the movie be released? Miyamoto adds that the film will be released on May 7, 2027. So it will still be a while before we see the two actors in action.
In the comments of the tweet, many fans express their opinions on the choice of actors. In a separate thread on Reddit, it becomes clear that several users have a very specific wish for the actor playing Link.
Fans have a wish for Link
What is the fans’ wish? User Ambassador_of_Mercy writes that he is satisfied with the choice. However, he wishes that Link has to say only a few lines, if at all. This would ensure that the creators remain faithful to the source, as Link has never spoken fully voiced sentences in any of The Legend of Zelda games.
Instead, the radiant hero only makes sounds, cries, or moans. In the animated series based on the video game, they were much more lenient, as Link could speak there.
In The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, there is even a reason for Link’s inability to speak. It is explained in a diary entry that Link fell into a rift as a child and lost his voice in the process.
However, one fan does not hold out too much hope: he has the Super Mario movie in mind and believes that Link might end up having a high speaking part similar to Mario. But it remains to be seen how Nintendo will handle the usually silent hero.
