Dead by Daylight wants to take another shot. The next killer sets new standards in horror and disgust – this is not for the faint-hearted.
Dead by Daylight is a horror game. After all, literal killers are fighting against survivors, trying to take them out – whether by sacrificing them on meat hooks or manually killing them by hand (“Mori”). However, just how disgusting Dead by Daylight can be when the developers incorporate the “Body Horror” aspect is demonstrated by the newest killer, “The Krasue”. With this killer, organs are literally flying across the screen – quite literally.
Currently, the Animatronic is the newest killer – but he will soon be replaced:
What can the new killer do? The Krasue appears at first glance to be an ordinary woman, hunting her victims with a machete and can infect enemies with a parasite by spitting on survivors. Nothing particularly special and hardly distinguishable from other killers in the game. However, the Krasue has a second form. She can detach her head from her body, pull out all vital organs from her body, and then float around the map as a flying mass of intestines. But best see for yourself:
In her “flying form”, Krasue not only moves faster but can also glide over small obstacles like pallets. She attacks using her intestines, which she sinks into the bodies of survivors so that the parasite can grow and ultimately make the victims vulnerable to her attacks.
The idea behind the killer is to gradually infect the survivors with a parasite that becomes stronger and ultimately makes them vulnerable to the killer’s abilities in the “flying form”, causing them to go down faster.
Krasue can switch between her two forms at any time, but there is a downside. Each time she sheds her fleshly form to show the world her insides, her body decays and ultimately leaves behind a fungus. Survivors can pick up and eat the fungus to remove the parasite. Therefore, one should avoid constant switching.
How the new killer plays is shown by the streamer Otzdarva:
The new perks of Krasue
What perks does the killer bring? Like all killers, Krasue comes with her own perks. You can unlock these for all other killers later through the Bloodweb. Her perks are:
- Ravenous: If you hook a survivor for the first time, you gain 1 token, up to 4. If you have 4 tokens, all survivors scream and become vulnerable for 40 / 50 / 60 seconds (= they go down with one hit).
- Wandering Eye: If you engage in a chase with a survivor, the aura of all other injured survivors within 16 meters is revealed for 5 seconds. This perk has a cooldown of 40 / 35 / 30 seconds.
- Hex: Overture of Doom: A curse totem appears that curses a generator, the aura of which is shown to you in yellow. If a survivor repairs the generator for 5 seconds, you become Undetectable (= no terror radius, no red stain) and your terror radius is instead transferred to the cursed generator for 20 / 25 / 30 seconds. When the cursed generator is fully repaired, the furthest generator is cursed.
Note that the information so far relates to details from the PTB (Test Server). Details may change before the release.
What else is in the update? Aside from the new killer and survivor, Patch 9.2 also includes an extremely large – and very controversial – update to the gameplay mechanics. The “Slugging” and “Tunneling” of killers will be curtailed through drastic measures, ensuring that killers will need to rethink and play very differently in the upcoming update.
