What kind of movie is it? With “The Fantastic Four: First Steps” premiering in a few days, on July 24, 2025, the latest Marvel film will hit theaters in Germany. It is a reboot of the series and takes place in a world inspired by the 1960s.
The first critics have already seen the new Marvel film and rate it significantly better than its predecessor.
What happened with the last film? The last film featuring the “Fantastic Four” was released in 2015. Many critics and the audience received the film poorly: On IMDb, it only received 4.3 out of 10 stars with more than 180,000 ratings. The film at least recouped its production costs: a profit of 167.9 million USD, with a production budget of 120 million USD.

What are the reactions to “First Step”? The critics who were able to see the film before its official premiere have so far expressed overwhelming enthusiasm. This is reported by the English-language magazine Variety.com. This is mainly due to the strong cast that the film features:

- Vanessa Kirby plays Sue Storm
- Joseph Quinn is Human Torch
- Ebon Moss-Bachrach is Ben Grimm (The Thing).
Additionally, the retro-futuristic setting of the 60s fits the film very well. One critic even compares the film’s visuals to those of Christopher Nolan’s “Interstellar”.
