With the scope, you can spot and mark enemies from a distance in Call of Duty: Warzone. But this thing is stronger than many think. Only because it’s broken.
What can the scope do? With the large mid-season update of Season 4 in Modern Warfare, the “Spotter Scope” came to Warzone. The device is essentially a high-tech scope that detects and marks enemies for you.
Enemies become visible even at long distances. And unlike a scope from heavy sniper rifles, the reconnaissance tool does not trigger a scope reflection – so you can spy on your enemies without being detected.
Cheaters glitch the Spotter Scope onto their weapons
What’s wrong with it? A few nasty cheaters have found out that this item is unfortunately somewhat unfair. With a certain sequence of actions, players can almost attach the scope to their weapons.
They then benefit from the advantages of the tactical item, which they should actually pull out of their pocket to scout – similar to the powerful heartbeat sensor.
But cheaters who glitch the gadget onto their weapon can save themselves the hassle of reaching into the sticky equipment bag. Even though they keep their weapon aimed, they receive the marking effects of the device when they have an enemy on-screen.
MeinMMO does not explain the exact mechanics of the glitch in this article.
How do cheaters use this? With these effects, you can spot enemies much faster. As soon as an enemy is in your line of sight, you get a small white marking. If you then aim at this enemy for a moment longer, they are marked with a live marker and visible to your entire team.
During the time the live marker is on, enemies are even briefly visible through walls. Although enemies will notice the marking, the team members of the cheaters will as well.
Since cheaters can also use their weapon while happily scouting and marking, this is a really nasty advantage. The glitch first appeared in July but has not attracted much attention since then. It is unclear whether the bug has been in the game since or if it was fixed once and has now returned. Similar to the demon weapon glitch, which occasionally shows up even after the fix.
A new glitch teleports players across half the map in just a moment.
Currently doubly unfair due to night mode
Why is it so unfair right now? Currently, a Halloween event is running in Warzone – It haunts in Verdansk. Some modes are therefore set in darkness. Although the moon seems quite bright, visibility is noticeably limited. Even in bright sunshine, this spotting advantage is unfair. In the dark environment of the event, it is even more malicious. MeinMMO author Maik Schneider thinks the event is fantastic, even though it sometimes ruins matches.
Currently, no statement from the developers can be found regarding the problem. While it is not a gamebreaker or as strong as wallhacks from “real” cheaters on PC or stability aids on consoles. But the fact that a normal item, which is often found in Warzone, provides such a nasty advantage is still not acceptable.
