The developers of Soulframe have released the new update Preludes 12. MeinMMO summarizes what new features await you in the fantasy MMO from the creators of Warframe.
What do I need to know about Preludes 12? The new update for Soulframe is between 1.9 and 2.2 GB in size and focuses primarily on improving the beginner experience:
- New characters awaken on the coast and are led by the Sparrow to an empty hut, from where the journey should begin more clearly. As part of better onboarding, players should also clean the first World Tree.
- There are improved tutorial hints for early game systems such as Spectral Sight or the Spirit Guide.
- There is now the option to test the different starter packs before making a path decision.
- Better introduction to combat as well as guidance through the first quest challenges.
Thus, the developers address a hurdle of Soulframe that we noticed during the first playthrough: Soulframe does not explain itself well in many places, often you walk through the world with a big question mark above your head.
More travel comfort, more rewarding battles
What else does Preludes 12 bring? In addition to the improved onboarding, the following new features are included:
- The greatsword promises far-reaching attacks and powerful strikes.
- The new merchant Zenith, a camel that you find in the Nightfold hub. The animal merchant sells the new founder packs (more on that shortly), as well as other goods.
- New enemies from the Agari, and the existing Agari fighters have been adjusted regarding their combat behavior and balance.
- Through certain elixirs, you can summon a tricky combat challenge with the Cogah.
- Anyone who has completed the Bromius quest line from Preludes 11 will gain access to a plant network that allows you to fast travel in the world of Midrath.
- Sieges have received a fundamental overhaul, making them more rewarding.
- The packs have undergone extensive revisions.
- The tasks of factions and enclaves have been revised, allowing you to build experience with them more quickly.
- New elixirs, talismans, runes, and totems are now available in the game.
- The world of Midrath has been expanded with new camps, bases, and points of interest.
- The Collectors are no longer part of the faction stories but belong to a standalone world event that can occur every 6 hours in areas with level 20+.
- There are numerous improvements for the user interface and overall player experience.

What about the founder packs? They allow you to gain access to the current version of the fantasy MMO (plus 2 friend codes each) and receive some additional content. The founder packs come in 4 variants:
- Wyld Tethren: 28.99 Euro
- Wyld Sirin: 28.99 Euro
- Wyld Oscelda: 28.99 Euro
- Paragon: 99 Euro
The first 3 packs each offer their own variants of a founder gear, plus skins for your Spirit Guide, talisman, name embellishments, and more. Each version also includes a special weapon skin for Warframe, access to a merch store for founders, 1,000 Arcs, and 10 Moonsteel Threads.
The more expensive Paragon variant offers, in addition to the content of the other 3 founder packs, some cosmetic variants, the Paragon greatsword, 4 additional bonus codes for friends, and a bonus for Arcs (totalling 3,500) and Moonsteel Threads (totalling 45). What do I need to know about Soulframe? The new project from the creators of Warframe was first presented at TennoCon 2022 and is currently in an early alpha testing phase. The developers themselves describe Soulframe as a “free-to-play open-world adventure” with a fantasy setting.
The gameplay shown so far resembles – in terms of atmosphere and battles – somewhat the Souls games from From Software. However, the developers insist, that despite the name there are many more differences than similarities. The world is not so dark, the battles are not so punishing. Soulframe is supposed to be even less hardcore than Warframe.
Due to the multiplayer content and Warframe roots, the term MMO often comes up with this action title. The developers themselves avoid the MMO designation. That there is a good reason for this is shown in our preview report: I played about 25 hours of Soulframe and can tell you: This is not an MMO
