Including the first free DLC, you have access to 8 heroes or villains per side in Star Wars Battlefront 2. Some are already playable from the beginning, but most need to be unlocked first.
How do you unlock them?
In general, heroes can be unlocked with credits, the in-game currency. These are earned by reaching milestones, through loot boxes, and completing tasks. Additionally, completing the campaign provides a total of 5,000 credits – and it’s worth it!
The heroes yet to be unlocked currently cost between 5,000 (like Iden Versio) and 15,000 (like Luke Skywalker or Darth Vader) credits. Of course, this takes time: depending on playing style and skill level, it takes between 24 and 40 hours to unlock all characters, as various players have calculated. It’s beneficial to consider beforehand which heroes you wish to purchase.
In the ongoing game, you will need to earn battle points to actually play as a hero. Simply having them in your repertoire is not enough. In the menu, you can exchange battle points for starfighters, AT-ATs, and of course heroes, making the most of it until your next death.

Chewbacca – the powerhouse
The Wookiee is not only Han Solo’s loyal companion but also a fantastic fighter! With his Bowcaster, which is impressively showcased in The Force Awakens, he plows through opponents. Depending on the star cards used, he is a slower hero but can take a lot of hits.
- Costs 10,000 credits.
- Requires 6,000 battle points.
His abilities
- Shock Grenade: Chewbacca throws a grenade that releases smaller shock grenades and hits multiple opponents.
- Wild Bowcaster: Overcharges the Bowcaster to fire fully charged shots without charging time.
- Storm Surge: Activates the ability a second time, throwing multiple opponents to the ground. He can also activate this in mid-air.
Han Solo – the dynamite
The popular rogue is naturally wielding his DL-44 blaster and is particularly effective with his grenades. You should upgrade this blaster to maximize its damage output. With the star card “Modified Blaster”, for instance, it overheats much slower.

His abilities
- Detonating Charge: Throws a sticky grenade and detonates it if needed.
- Sharpshooter: Fires the DL-44 faster for a certain time.
- Shoulder Charge: Rushes forward and rams the first enemy he encounters, damaging them.
Lando Calrissian – the tactician
The charming smuggler can not only flirt but also proves to be extremely effective on the battlefield. Specifically, those who like to attack from hiding will enjoy playing him.
- Playable from the beginning.
- Requires 8,000 battle points.
His abilities
- Smoke Grenade: He throws a smoke grenade, limiting the opponents’ vision while he can still see everything through his thermal vision goggles.
- Precision Shot: Targets up to five opponents and neutralizes them with multiple shots.
- Deactivator: Throws a sticky grenade that reveals enemies nearby and disrupts their radar.
Leia Organa – the defender
Leia Organa is your choice if you prefer a more passive playstyle. With star cards, you can rapidly improve your regeneration, and your shield protects you from opponents. It’s understood that she can also deal damage.
- Costs 10,000 credits.
- Requires 6,000 battle points.
Her abilities
- Flash Grenade: Blinds and confuses opponents within the radius of the grenade, which explodes upon impact.
- Rapid Fire: Engages opponents under continuous laser fire from her E-11 blaster rifle.
- Trooper Shield: She activates a shield that can also protect allies when they stand with her.
Luke Skywalker – the rogue
With Luke, you can wield a lightsaber and fight your way through enemies – even deflect their blaster shots and deal damage to other heroes. If your heart is with close combat on the light side, he’s your choice.
- Costs 15,000 credits.
- Requires 6,000 battle points.
His abilities
- Push: Pushes opponents away with the Force or off cliffs or into hazards.
- Defend: Unleashes Force energy across the ground, damaging enemies in the area of effect.
- Sprint: Increases his sprint speed using the Force, allowing him to reach targets or escape tricky situations faster.
Rey – the revealing slasher
One of her very effective abilities is revealing opponents in the vicinity. This makes it easier to rush into close combat and slash through enemies with the lightsaber.
- Playable from the beginning.
- Requires 6,000 battle points.
Her abilities
- Sprint Attack: Charges forward with her lightsaber and harms anyone in her way.
- Insight: Reveals all opponents in the vicinity. While she has the ability active, her stamina and damage increase.
- Mind Trick: Causes dizziness and confusion among the opponents.
Yoda – the dangerous rubber ball
Due to his small size and resulting agility, he is a difficult opponent to hit. Furthermore, he can heal himself and allies – a damn strong combination!
- Playable from the beginning.
- Requires 8,000 battle points.
His abilities
- Unleash: Damages opponents in front of him and pushes them back. If he blocks damage, Yoda’s range and damage from Unleash increases.
- Presence: Instantly heals Yoda and his allies within his area of effect.
- Sprint Attack: This attack can be performed three times in quick succession. He jumps forward and damages affected opponents.
