With Hogwarts Legacy, a highly rated and immensely successful open-world adventure for the popular Harry Potter universe was released in February 2023. If you’re considering a purchase, now is the time to act. The trip to Hogwarts has never been this affordable.
What are the current prices? Currently, various platforms are running discount offers that allow you to secure Hogwarts Legacy at historically low prices:
- On Steam, the standard version of Hogwarts Legacy is available for 17.99 euros instead of 59.99 euros (70 percent discount) until September 5, 2024.
- The Digital Deluxe Edition, which includes the DLCs “Dark Arts Pack” and “Dark Arts Field Hat,” is on sale on Steam for 20.99 euros instead of 69.99 euros.
- In the Epic Games Store, the same discounts await you, but you have until September 8, 2024.
- The responsible parties from PlayStation and Xbox also promise a 70 percent discount. Since the standard versions for PS5 and Xbox Series normally cost 74.99 euros, you’ll be paying 22.49 euros until September 12 (PlayStation) or September 10 (Xbox).
- The slightly cheaper variants for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One are currently available for 20.99 euros. The Deluxe Editions of the console versions are not discounted at the moment.

Great Value for Money
Is the purchase worth it? For developers Avalanche and publisher Warner, Hogwarts Legacy has been an enormous success. By January 2024, more than 24 million units of the game are expected to have been sold. Additionally, many awards and high ratings have showered the creators – and this despite the boycott calls before the launch.
Specifically, Hogwarts Legacy currently has a “Very Positive” rating on Steam, with 90 percent positive reviews from nearly 200,000 submitted user reviews. The average score on metacritic.com ranges from 83 to 85 depending on the platform. No other game from the Harry Potter universe has ever been rated this well there.

Hogwarts and Hogsmeade are magically realized, with so many loving details that even on the tenth visit, one can still discover small things that bring a smile to the face. The graphics are eye-opening, the battles are enjoyable, and the stories of the main quests are sufficiently interesting. Finally, someone has created an excellent game for the strong Harry Potter license!
It’s just a shame that the house competition in school life is underdeveloped. The interaction and rivalry between Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and Slytherin should be expanded by the developers in a sequel. Did you know?
