For four years, players battled through the dangerous forest in the online survival game The Forest. Now, the official launch is just around the corner.
On April 30th, the time has come, as The Forest leaves early access. This also brings a price increase from currently €14.99 to €19.99. The survival game remains popular on Steam with nearly 4,000 players active at the same time. Whether the official launch will bring more players, we will see at the end of the month.
The release version offers new features
The Forest will also offer several other new features in version 1.0. These include:
- Controller support
- New buildings that you can construct
- Performance improvements
- Additional reasons to eliminate enemies, such as better resources as loot
- Heat and cold system – you need to dress according to the temperature
- Outfits can be quickly changed
- UI improvements
Additionally, the team is currently working on a virtual reality version, which will have more details soon.
Survive in the forest
In The Forest, you find yourself in the middle of a vast forest and realize that you are not alone here. Mutants are hunting you, and you must try to survive by crafting equipment like weapons and clothing from resources, looking for food, and building a shelter. You can also do this together with friends, which increases your chances of survival.
The Forest mixes survival with horror elements since the creatures you encounter in the forest are gruesome, man-eating mutants.
A version of The Forest for PS4 is also in development.
