The developers of Ashes of Creation regularly release videos about their progress in the MMORPG. The latest edition focuses on the creation and animation of horses.
What can be seen in the video? The behind-the-scenes look first shows the horse in its raw form. Later it gets muscles, mane, and tail added.
In the further course it strongly focuses on the animations, of which the horses have particularly many. In addition to walking and jumping, there are also animations for:
- Grazing
- Rearing
- Whinnying
- Dying
In the last 30 seconds, several horses can be seen in the wild, standing together in a meadow. There you can also notice how much love is in the details of the animations.
Horses are just one of many mounts
What other mounts will there be? Over the years, the developers have shown pictures of mounts repeatedly. Horses only make up a small part of this, as there are numerous other types available on land.
You will be able to ride bulls, camels, bears, deer, raptors, and many other creatures. Some of them are faster than others.
In addition to land animals, there will also be flying mounts. However, flying is limited to the zones you control. Outside of this zone, flying mounts glide down or walk normally on the ground.
However, there are also special creatures like the hippogryph, which can only glide. Gliding mounts slowly descend but cannot independently fly back up.
How do you get mounts in Ashes of Creation? The ways to obtain a mount are very diverse. Some can be tamed directly in the open world when you encounter them there.
Rarer and stronger mounts are obtained from world bosses. Flying mounts like dragons have only a limited lifespan before they must be earned again.
One reason for this is that they can also be useful in a siege and thus in PvP.
Charge into battle with a mount
Will there be mount battles? Game Director Steven Sharif confirmed in a livestream that there will be mounts that can use skills and attacks.
However, while riding, you will not have access to your own class skills.
Mounts can be killed by other players. However, they can be summoned again from the inventory.
What’s currently happening in Ashes of Creation? After a larger hype at the end of 2018, things got quieter around Ashes of Creation. This should change soon, as on August 20th, the return of the PvP game Apocalypse is planned.
The developers shared this in a developer update in July. They also presented the caravans that are supposed to facilitate trade between nodes.
