Very soon, the Halloween celebration “Festival of the Lost” will take place in Destiny 2. Bungie has revealed how the festivities for the event will unfold in 2019.
What is the Festival of the Lost? This celebration has its roots in Destiny 1 and is held in honor of fallen Guardians. Essentially, it’s Destiny’s version of Halloween.
The survivors gather in the Tower and the Last City to commemorate their loved ones, friends, and comrades who lost their lives in battle. Here, Guardians are supposed to reflect on what they are truly fighting for.
For this, the Tower, the social space of the city, will be dressed in festive decor. Candles, pumpkins, and lights will be everywhere. There will be event-specific quests, activities, and thematically inspired rewards. In Season 8, this event will once again make its return to Destiny 2.
All You Need to Know About the Halloween Event “Festival of the Lost” 2019
When does the Halloween event take place? The festival starts with the weekly reset on October 29 and runs for three weeks until November 19.
Who can participate? All players on all platforms can participate, regardless of additional content like Shadowkeep – including Guardians who only own the Free-to-Play version Destiny 2: New Light.
The only requirement for the free Destiny 2 version is that you have completed the introduction mission of New Light (to unlock the Tower) and have a power level of at least 770. Then you will receive a quest that directs you to the event contact person in the Tower.
This is your contact person: Your contact for all Guardians will be Eva Levante. You will find her right in front of the landing point at the central square of the Tower. There, you can receive a new event Helm, bounties, masks, and other festival rewards.
What is there to do during the festival?
Event-specific Triumphs: The Festival of the Lost 2019 brings new Triumphs that you can unlock. These can only be earned during the event in 2019.
Event-specific bounties: From Eva Levante, you will receive new festival bounties that will reward you with XP, Glimmer, or Strange Candy Coins upon successful completion. With the candy coins, you can acquire new festival mask ornaments for your new Helm, for example.
Event-specific activity – The Haunted Forest returns: The Haunted Forest was introduced during the Festival of the Lost in 2018. Now the activity is making its return in 2019 as expected. You will fight through randomly generated sections (branches) in an alternative spooky version of the Infinite Forest.
The goal is to defeat as many enemies as quickly as possible and advance through as many branches of the activity as you can. You will have a total of 15 minutes for this. The further you go, the more challenging and difficult the Haunted Forest becomes. At the end, there will be a boss fight, and a special reward awaits.

By the way, you can approach the Haunted Forest in two different modes with and without matchmaking. The recommended power level is 750. You can select this activity via the map view of the Tower.
These rewards will come from the Halloween event 2019
How to obtain the rewards: Once you unlock access to the Haunted Forest, you can acquire bounties, masks, and other event rewards through Eva.
Masks can be purchased with candy coins or sweets. You will obtain these by defeating enemies during the Halloween festivities and completing activities while wearing the new event Helm.
There will be no event engrams this year. Festival rewards can be obtained either through Eva or from the in-game shop Eververse.
Festival Helm and new masks: The event helm, the masquerade helm, is available from Eva. It has a power level, but this is only active during the event. New as well as old event masks can then be equipped and worn as ornaments on this helm.
The 2019 Festival of the Lost offers you a total of 5 new masks that you can purchase with candy coins or sweets.
Festival-specific armor mods: There will be event-specific armor mods that you can equip in the event helm (and only in this one). The mods will only be active in the Haunted Forest and will provide you with additional bonuses there.
These are the festival mods:
- Higher Purpose: significantly increased damage resistance in the air, significantly increased damage against all enemies, increased drop chance for heavy ammo on kills
- Vampiric Touch: significantly increased damage against challenging enemies, health regeneration on precision kills, increased drop chance for heavy ammo on kills
- Energetic Assassin: precision kills grant grenade and melee energy, significantly increased damage against Nightmares, increased drop chance for heavy ammo on kills
Festival-specific weapon: The sweets are back as prizes, and besides mysterious surprise bags, you can purchase the legendary event auto rifle BrayTech Werewolf from Eva.
Once you first purchase this weapon as a masterpiece with power level 950 from Eva, you will also be able to obtain the gun with random rolls.
Event-specific Eververse content: Rewards such as thematically inspired armor ornaments for each Guardian class, ghost shells, sparrows, emotes, or additional masks will only be available this year through Eververse.
According to Community Manager Cozmo23, all event-specific items should be available throughout the event using the in-game currency Glimmer. Only some older items from last year will only be available for real money currency Silver.
By the way, one of Destiny’s most popular sparrows is returning – the flying broomstick. And this time, you can even keep it beyond the Festival of the Lost.
