A car from China sets a new speed record. The previous record holder was a vehicle from Bugatti. The new leader, the Yangwang U9 Xtreme, costs significantly less compared to Bugatti.
Which vehicle is it? The Yangwang U9 Xtreme recently set a new world record as the fastest production car. This has been reported by the English-language magazine CarandDriver.com.
On the “ATP Automotive Testing” test track in Papenburg, Germany, the vehicle reached a top speed of 308.4 mph, which is 496.22 km/h. This means the electric hypercar surpassed the previous record of the Bugatti Chiron Super Sport 300+, which achieved a top speed of 304.8 mph (490 km/h) in 2019.

What kind of vehicle is this? The Yangwang U9 Xtreme is an electric hypercar built by the luxury brand Yangwang, which belongs to the well-known Chinese manufacturer BYD. BYD is one of the most well-known Chinese car brands and aims to grow significantly in Europe.
- The vehicle is powered by four ultra-fast electric motors, each producing 555 kW, resulting in a total power output of approximately 2,220 kW (around 2,977 hp). These motors operate at up to 30,000 rpm.
- The U9 Xtreme features enhanced aerodynamic components such as a fixed rear wing, a front splitter, revised air intakes, extended side skirts, and a larger rear diffuser to maximize downforce and stability at extreme speeds.
How much does the vehicle cost? Production is limited to 30 units worldwide, and the price in China is 1.68 million yuan. This is approximately 200,000 euros.
