What is it about? In the second addon Summerset for The Elder Scrolls Online (ESO), you go to the island of High Elves. There, a strict order prevails and various groups and factions have their own assignments and agendas. To ensure that you don’t look like a lost tourist when Summerset launches on May 21 (PC) or June 5 (consoles), we have compiled the most important groups in Summerset for you.
The Divine Enforcement Authority – The Inquisition Police of the Elves
Who are “The Divine Enforcement Authority” and what do they do? Beneath the ominous name lies a rather unpleasant organization. The Divine Enforcement Authority is essentially the state police of the High Elves and the Inquisition in one.
They therefore pursue not only dangers to the state across the country. They also deal with religious offenses. Especially the worship of Daedra is harshly punished by them.
Are they friend or foe? In the game, the Divine Enforcement Authority is likely a double-edged sword. On the one hand, they are suspicious of outsiders and, being High Elves, correspondingly arrogant. On the other hand, they are opponents of the Daedra, and your hero is ultimately one too.
The Psijic Order – The “real” Mages Guild
Who are “The Psijic Order” and what do they do? According to legends, the Psijic Order explored and made magic accessible in ancient times on Tamriel. Therefore, they must have “invented” sorcery in the first place.
Since they do not want to reveal their secrets, the Psijic Order withdrew its home island from the world long ago, and since then, the members of the order are rarely seen on Tamriel.
Fun fact: A branch of the order once developed into the Mages Guild, which the order looks down upon with great disdain.
Are they friend or foe? During the Summerset story, you will encounter an unheard number of members of the order. It seems that the events in Summerset require their intervention. Additionally, you should be able to join the order and thereby learn their exceptionally powerful time magic of the Psijic as skills.
The Sapiarchs – Guardians of the Crystal Tower
Who are “The Sapiarchs” and what do they do? The landmark of Summerset is the massive Crystal Tower. One of the legendary ancient towers of Tamriel, which stand at various points around the world and harbor unimaginable secrets.
Unfortunately, the legendary tower in ESO looks more like a large cucumber made of concrete, but this does not change the fact that in it the Sapiarchs maintain a massive library. Every member of this order is regarded as the most knowledgeable Elf on the island in his field.
Are they friend or foe? The Sapiarchs are primarily scholars who hoard immense knowledge. Therefore, you will likely have dealings with them if you want to access their knowledge. As guardians of the Crystal Tower, they will certainly play an important role in the story, as the teaser for Summerset already shows the tower being engulfed by dark Daedra magic. Perhaps you’ll later fight side by side with the Sapiarchs against the Daedra?
The House of Dreams – Clowns among the Humorless
Who are “The House of Dreams” and what do they do? The House of Dreams is a troupe of showmen from Rellenthil. They bring joy and fun with their colorful performances but occasionally go a bit overboard.
Curiously, the members outside the stage are quite reserved and give themselves a mysterious air. This is surely due to the fact that they wear masks and thus remain anonymous. A significant precaution in the otherwise rigid society of the High Elves.
Are they friend or foe? The House of Dreams offers you an unforgettable show in Summerset. However, there may be more behind the masks of the members than just a harmless troupe of entertainers. And who knows, maybe you can even join the performers in a questline and find yourself on stage?
