The founder of Facebook is allegedly building a large bunker for around 100 million US dollars. The description resembles famous games set in the apocalypse or a villain from a video game.
Mark Zuckerberg is considered an eccentric billionaire who likes to spend money on special things. After his last billion-dollar project, a strange metaverse game, has been rather unsuccessful, there are now reports that he is having a huge bunker facility constructed.
This is reported by the magazine Wired, which recently published an investigation into the building plans, local politics, and the turmoil of NDAs and confidentiality. Many immediately think of a video game villain whose underground complex must be battled through. With the secrecy, one probably thinks more of the legendary GTA 6.

What is this project about? Mark Zuckerberg bought the property known as Koolau Ranch in August 2014 and has been investing a lot of money there for years. Meanwhile, besides two villas, facilities for a gym, a swimming pool, and a tennis court are being built on the Hawaiian island of Kauai.
However, much more exciting is that a huge protection bunker is supposed to be built underneath the approximately 1,400-hectare site. The facility is reportedly equipped with:
- several elevators.
- Soundproof walls.
- Secret entrances and its own water tanks.
- A self-sufficient power and food supply is also said to exist.
The entire complex is supposed to cover a total area of 5,000 square meters and cost more than 270 million dollars along with the property prices. Other sources suggest that the entire bunker facility should cost around 100 million US dollars.
However, not much is really known about it, as there are strict regulations that the workers must adhere to.
Strict regulations and no one is allowed to talk about it
What is the “problem”? No one working on this project is allowed to talk about what they are currently working on or building. Pretty much every person working there is bound by a strict confidentiality agreement. And this is strictly enforced, with violations being harshly punished.
Employees are said to have already been fired when they posted individual pictures of the construction site on social networks. According to Wired, it feels like half the island is bound to an NDA, and it is almost like GTA 6: everyone knows about it, but no one is allowed to talk about it. Allegedly, several residents have already complained about the huge project.
Many workers have already stated that it would not be worth risking their job for a “leak” about the construction project. And that is likely to remain the case for the time being.
In contrast to GTA 6, however, Mark Zuckerberg will not release a video or a trailer about his property. Because while we can eventually play GTA 6, the huge bunker facility is likely to remain a secret for the foreseeable future:
GTA 6: Trailer is already here because Rockstar got tired of leaks – release not before 2025
