In January 2018, you can participate in the special Diablo 3 event “Darkness in Tristram” and hack your way through dark dungeons.
On December 31, 2016, Blizzard’s action RPG game “Diablo” celebrated its 20th anniversary. To celebrate this occasion with you, the developers launched a special event in Diablo 3, which will also return in 2018.
The Darkening of Tristram in 2018
The beginning of 2018 will be brightened up for you by the Diablo developers with the Darkening of Tristram Event. It starts around midnight on January 1st and ends at the same time on January 30th.
For a month, you have time to battle your way through the dungeons and their masses of monsters to earn rewards. With this event, Blizzard reflects on the early days of the game series.
First, you will search for mysterious cultists who are causing unrest in Sanctuary. Once you’ve found the portal that leads you into Tristram’s past, you will immerse yourself in a world with retro vision. This nostalgic view brings a special pixel filter into play.

The camera movements and attack animations are also “old school” and not in the familiar Diablo 3 manner. You will regularly find references to Diablo I when interacting with characters or picking up certain nostalgic items.
Rewards from the Darkness in Tristram Event
A special Diablo event should naturally reward you with valuable loot. When you complete activities during the anniversary event, you will receive transmogrification effects, achievements, portraits, pets, and more.

Some of the rewards are obvious and easy to find, while others require a more careful search.
So in January, an adventure in Diablo 3 is well worth it for you.
