Yesterday we reported on changes regarding the The Elder Scrolls Online beta and told you that players stumbled upon a new collision detection in PvE. While everything was still quite vague yesterday, the fog has gradually lifted today. More and more beta players confirm that the collision detection is not a hoax. We can actually expect it to be in the release. This means: No more aerial battles, we will finally feel what we hit next time!
The patch notes from the beta test server are as follows:
- Collision detection with NPCs just got put in.
- You can also now skip the starter islands and go straight to the first city in your area. You can port back to starter islands if you want.
- Mob difficulty increase slightly starting at level 5.
- Buffs and nerfs to class abilities
- Starting leveling is slightly quicker, while higher-level is a bit slower.
- Fixed an issue where many abilities were not properly obeying line of sight rules.
- More orchestral music across all zones.
- Many gameplay improvements, including balancing and polish to class and weapon abilities.
- Many updates and improvements to the UI.
It is also immediately noticeable that the starter zone is now only optional. It no longer has to be played. The reactions regarding the prologue were likely negative, especially when beta testers had to play through it with multiple characters. Did you also find it unenjoyable? Personally, I would have expected a better intro. Especially since we are talking about a next-gen MMO with The Elder Scrolls Online.
EDIT: Apparently the full patch notes for the next beta event have now leaked (very, very long!): http://www.reddit.com/r/elderscrollsonline/comments/1yso0g/upcoming_v018_patchnotes/
