The Elder Scrolls Online: Morrowind introduces the Warden as a new class. Many players want to create a Warden in ESO: But which race suits them? What is the best race for the ideal build for the Warden? Read it here in our guide to the best Warden race.
In The Elder Scrolls Online, the choice of your race not only affects the appearance of your hero. Each playable race has four unique bonuses, which may not be groundbreaking, but can still make a difference. Therefore, certain races are better suited for specific roles and classes: The new Warden class from the new chapter Morrowind is no exception.
ESO: Morrowind – Warden Race Guide – Which passive skills are useful for which role?
The first difficulty in choosing a race for the Warden is that not all Wardens are the same. Rather, the new class is extremely versatile and can be both a healer and a tank or damage dealer.
A race that provides particularly good tank advantages might not be suitable if you ultimately prefer to play as a healer. Therefore, we have listed a selection of particularly well-suited races for each role below.
Morrowind – The best races for the Warden as a damage dealer
Wardens focusing on the damage dealer skill tree have a large number of magical ranged attacks and work best with races that provide a bonus to magic. Therefore, the following races are well-suited for DPS builds:
- Bretons: This race receives bonuses to maximum Magicka and reduces the cost of all spells. Additionally, they have good values for spell resistance, which is always beneficial.
- High Elves: The Altmer receive bonuses to Magicka regeneration, maximum Magicka, and Frost damage. Therefore, they can also effectively utilize the offensive skills from the Warden’s tank line, as these deal Frost damage.
- Dunmer: The Dunmer are the dominant race in Morrowind and have bonuses to Magicka and Stamina. This allows them to execute attacks well. Additionally, they regenerate Magicka faster.
- Bosmer: If you want to focus less on magic and more on ranged combat with a bow and convert as many skills as possible to stamina consumption, the Bosmer are a good choice due to their high Stamina and quick regeneration.
- Khajiit: The cunning catfolk remain the best stamina-based DPS due to their bonuses to medium armor (and thus always have good Stamina values), regenerate Stamina faster, and deal more critical damage. If you build your Warden as a stamina-based damage dealer, then Khajiit are definitely a suitable race.
- Redguard: The denizens of the desert also receive good bonuses to Stamina and its regeneration. Additionally, they sometimes regain Stamina after successful hits in combat.
Morrowind – The best races for the Warden as a tank
If you want to play a Warden as a tank, there is hardly a way to avoid the “Winter’s Embrace” skill tree. This utilizes various ice spells to protect the Warden and his companions and also to deal some damage. The following races are particularly effective here:
- Nords: Nords are always good tanks, as they have many hit points, regenerate them faster, and inherently come with damage reduction.
- Orcs: The Orsimer are also a good choice for any tank hero. They wear heavy armor, have bonuses to Stamina and Health, and receive more healing. Additionally, they deal slightly more melee damage.
- High Elves: Those who want to fully focus on the magic of the tank Warden should choose Altmer. This elf race receives significant bonuses to Magicka and its regeneration. Additionally, they deal more damage with Frost spells, some of which the Winter’s Embrace talent tree possesses.
- Bretons: When it comes to magic, Bretons are always a good idea. The spells of the Winter’s Embrace skill tree become cheaper through the Bretons’ passive ability, and this race also has a bonus to Magicka and inherent spell resistance, which is never bad for tanks.
- Argonians: The lizardfolk also have a small bonus to Magicka and receive extra health points. Especially cool: Their healing skills work better and they gain more health when healed themselves. So if you use self-healing spells, you’ll be doubly blessed.
- Dunmer: The Dunmer receive bonuses to Magicka and Stamina, which allows them to cast spells and use other skills more often. Additionally, they have an inherent resistance to fire damage, which is beneficial against certain opponents.
Morrowind – The best races for the Warden as a healer
For healers, the Warden has its own talent tree that focuses on the powers of nature and healing plants. The following races are particularly well-suited:
- Bretons: As a healer, you need a lot of Magicka to fuel your healing spells. And since Bretons receive a bonus to Magicka and also have an inherent Magicka discount, they are well-suited as healers.
- High Elves: Altmer also have good bonuses to Magicka and regenerate it faster. And as they receive bonuses to elemental damage, they can also be played a bit more offensively.
- Argonians: The scaly swamp-dwellers are always a good choice for healers. For the surprisingly friendly lizard people receive bonuses for dealing and receiving healing. How cool is that? Additionally, they receive bonuses to Magicka and Health.
If you are looking for a race that fits all three specializations, then High Elves and Bretons are probably the safest choice. With their good bonuses to Magicka, there is always enough fuel for your abilities, and you don’t have to make significant adjustments to Stamina. Alternatively, Dunmer are also a good option, as they have good values in Magicka and also Stamina and receive small bonuses to elemental damage. Additionally, the dark elves fit perfectly into the setting of Morrowind!
