Zenimax Online wants to take advantage of the capabilities of the recently announced Playstation 4 Pro from Sony .
With this update, the game resolution will be increased, allowing players to view the fantasy world of Tamriel in 4K. A first trailer shows how detailed the world will look. We have linked the trailer here; however, the difference from Full HD and the detailed graphics can only be recognized when watching the video on a 4K monitor or a 4K television.
Higher Resolution and Better Graphics
Zenimax explains that adjustments can be made relatively easily, as ESO was originally developed for PC and thus the new resolution can be integrated more easily. The update will be available directly at the launch of the PS4 Pro on November 10. There’s no need to change anything in the game; the higher resolution will be automatically activated when the console detects a 4K television. However, if a “Full HD” device is used, players will also notice some improvements, as the developers explain that they will generally utilize the power of the PS4 Pro for enhanced graphic quality.
Zenimax also states that The Elder Scrolls Online will run in native 4K, which seems somewhat strange, as Sony did not want to provide exact details on how the PS4 Pro achieves 4K. Apparently, the device uses a combination of higher resolution and upscaling. Whether this is different for ESO is currently unknown.
