The new season for the MMORPG The Elder Scrolls Online is now being launched on consoles with a new trailer. However, the anticipation for it is relatively low – and one even felt briefly like they were in the wrong film.
Which trailer are we talking about? It refers to the new launch trailer for the Wurm Cult Seasons – Part 1 for Elder Scrolls Online. The very first season of the ESO MMORPG already started on PC and Mac on June 2, 2025, and players on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S have had access to the new content since June 18, 2025.

How are the reactions? There isn’t much anticipation for the new season, at least not under the new trailer on YouTube.
- Dabberz1 writes: “I useto be so addicted to this game. Ive got around 3000 hrs in it. Yet now im sooo glad I stopped playing like 7 years ago.”
- maxluthor6800 briefly thought he was watching a completely different trailer: “For a second i thought this was the trailer for Avengers doomsday”, which might be due to the many greens (the color of Dr. Doom in Marvel Comics) and the masked wizard.
On the official PlayStation YouTube channel, the trailer only has 292 likes and 172 dislikes (as of June 19, 9:50 AM) and around 10,300 views.
Fresh area with new challenge
What innovations does the season bring? With the mysterious island of Solstice, there is a completely new area for The Elder Scrolls Online. The story you experience there ties into the main plot from 2014 and brings back a growing Worm Cult.
- The Ossein Cage offers a new PvE challenge: The trial for 12 players can be found in the western Solstice, but from there it leads to Coldhaven.
- In Solstice, there are among other things 16 new antiquities (three of them mythic), new item sets, as well as crafting styles and companions to collect.
- While you are in Solstice, you will receive a 10% experience bonus all year round.

In parallel to the season, the free update 46 is also going live, which grants all players access to the new subclasses, the furnishing storage, support for mods for consoles, and the new systems for returning players.
Part 2 of the Wurm Cult Seasons is expected to be released in the fourth quarter of the year, so in autumn or winter. Until then, part of the island will be separated from the rest by a massive wall – one that is to be torn down by the players themselves. At the “ESO Direct 2025,” the developers of The Elder Scrolls Online revealed what the new season of the MMORPG is supposed to look like.
