In The Division, update 1.8 is released today, on December 5th. When is the launch time? On consoles, the update carries version number 1.17.
December 5, 2017 is the day that agents have been waiting for months. Because today the largest update for The Division to date is being installed, update 1.8.
Here are the important times:
- On December 5th at 9 AM, the servers will be taken down. Maintenance will take place on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
- The estimated downtime is 3.5 hours, so you can play again around 12:30 PM.
- During maintenance, update 1.8 will go live. The download size is nearly 10 GB (PS4).

What changes with update 1.8?
The most important innovations you will find in The Division 1.8 are as follows:
- Map expansion of the open world – the West-Side-Pier opens its gates.
- Resistance as a new PvE endless mode
- Conflict as a new PvP mode
- New global events, new exotics, new secret gear sets
- The maximum gear score is raised to 286
- A optimization station will be introduced, allowing you to optimize your equipment. You will need Division tech for this.
- Rogue 2.0 will be introduced.
- The underground will be revamped and now features Hunters.

Update 1.8 temporarily unlocks all DLCs
The update 1.8 is completely free. Every agent can download it and play the new activities.
However, there is one exception: You can only enter the new underground if you have the season pass or the first DLC “Underground”.
To ensure that all agents can enter the underground at the launch of update 1.8, Ubisoft will temporarily unlock all DLCs:
- Until December 10th, you can Underground, Survival (the survival mode) and Last Stand (PvP mode with PvE components) for free. It starts as soon as update 1.8 is live.
Developers stream for 24 hours
Starting at 12:30 PM, the developers will hold a 24-hour stream today to celebrate the launch of The Division 1.8. You can find the stream on Twitch.
The special: If you watch for more than 20 minutes and have linked your Twitch and Ubisoft accounts, you will receive weapon skins as a reward.
