In The Division, you can change and optimize your gear. We will look at how this works below.
In The Division, it is possible for you to change the role of your gear. This allows you to individually improve it and optimize it according to your playstyle. If you are not satisfied with your current gear, you can change it at the Recalibration Station, or in German: at the Upgrade Station.
Unlock the Upgrade Station in the Tech Wing
First, you need to unlock this station in your Operations Base. Stroll into the Tech Wing and activate the “Upgrade” option on the laptop. This will grant you the perk “Value Exchange”, which enables item value exchange at the “Workstation for Tech and Gear Improvement”.
You will find the Recalibration Station directly to the left of the laptop in the Tech Wing. The following items can be improved here:
- Masks
- Body Armor
- Backpacks
- Gloves
- Holsters
- Kneepads
Attention: You cannot modify weapons at this station! At the Upgrade Station, you can enhance your gear or turn items that you previously deemed useless into valuable ones. If you want to create a healer build, it is beneficial to focus on the Electronics attribute. However, if your gear boosts Firearms or Stamina, you can now change it.
How to Improve Your Items in The Division
We will show you step by step how you can improve your items:
- First, select the item you want to improve. You can see the bonuses this item grants you in the lower screen area, such as a specific Stamina value, additional percentages on experience points, or similar.
- Now select one of these bonuses that you want to improve. Keep in mind that you can only change one bonus. The others are then “locked” for improvement – forever! This is to prevent the gear from becoming completely overpowered.
- Once you have selected the bonus that needs to be improved, you will see possible improvements in the right screen area. Choose your desired bonus here.
- By the way, all of this costs you Credits. Depending on the rank of the item, the costs for the improvement increase. If you want to improve high-end gear, you will have to pay Phoenix Credits. We have summarized everything about this currency in this article.
What do you think of this ability to change the bonuses of your gear? Are you already using this station?
