With the “Incursions” update came gear sets in The Division. We present the “Striker’s Combat Gear”.
The gear sets are powerful items in The Division, they can reach a gear score of up to 240. If you want to increase your score, there is no way around these sets. Each set is supposed to fit a specific playstyle. The Striker’s Combat Gear is designed for an offensive style. But how does the set perform in practice?
What makes the Striker’s Combat Gear in The Division
In total, there are six individual armor pieces that complete the Striker’s Combat Gear. You can find the individual parts in the incursion “Falcon Lost”, in daily missions, and at the specialty gear vendor in the operations base. The exact locations of the gear set pieces in The Division can be found here.
Each piece of the Striker’s Combat Gear has bonuses that grant you more health, magazine capacity, or resistance to exotic damage. When you have several pieces of a set together, additional bonuses are unlocked. Once you own four pieces, an individual talent becomes active:
- 2 pieces: +20% Enemy Armor Damage. This is especially useful in the incursion, when you face high-level enemies with high armor and health. Since this bonus comes from your armor, every equipped weapon inflicts this extra damage.
- 3 pieces: +50% damage on critical hits. This bonus is particularly beneficial in combination with submachine guns, as they always have a higher chance of critical hits.
- 4 pieces: With four armor pieces of the Striker’s Combat Gear, the talent “Sharpshooter” is unlocked: Each subsequent hit deals 1% more damage, up to a maximum limit of 100%. Missed shots decrease the bonus by 2%. The bonus decreases by 1% for each second.
This talent is displayed in combat below the grenades, as you can see in the following image:
When you hit targets, this display fills up. When it is fully colored, you deal 100% more damage. When you open your inventory, you can also see this in your DPS value. However, this value drops rapidly again if you don’t hit additional targets.
Update 1.3: The bonuses for 2 and 3 pieces have been split into a five-piece bonus. You can find the exact bonuses of this set here.
Is the “Sharpshooter” talent worth it in practice?
According to Arekkz Gaming, the individual talent of the Striker’s Combat Gear only shines when you face high-level opponents, against whom you must unload an insane number of bullets. In activities where you can eliminate enemies relatively quickly, you wouldn’t feel much benefit from this talent.
Since the damage bonus decreases quickly, whether due to missed shots or over time, you can only really benefit from it in a few situations. Other users also mention that this talent sounds more interesting in theory than in practice. The talents of other gear sets tend to be more useful, which is why the Striker’s Combat Gear is not the first choice for many agents.
To efficiently increase the bonus of the Sharpshooter talent of the Striker’s Combat Gear, some users recommend using shotguns. With these, you can stack the bonus “significantly faster”. Afterwards, you can switch back to your primary weapon and benefit from the damage bonus.
