In The Division, you can earn three new masks during the global event “Assault”. We will show you how to quickly get them here.
With the third global event, three new masks were introduced. You can earn these by completing commendations, which you can view in the dossier. Select the commendations for “GE Assault” here. A mask will be awarded for each of the three tasks.
This is what you need to do for the masks:
- Jungle Mask: Kill Rikers bosses
- Classic Mask: Complete a mission without taking explosive damage from a teammate (World Tier 5, Hard, Tactical Assault, in a group)
- Rider Mask: Complete a mission without taking explosive damage (World Tier 5, Hard, Preventive or tactical assault)
You have until December 20 to grab these masks. Then the global event ends.
How to Quickly Get the Masks
You can obtain the Classic Mask and the Rider Mask simultaneously with one mission. The easiest method: Start the mission Lexington Event Center on Hard with your friends and the modifier “Tactical Assault” and just hold back. Let your friends do all the work while you stay in the background. This way, you avoid any damage. The Lexington Event Center is quick and straightforward. Repeat this until all your friends who help you also have both masks.
The Jungle Mask is significantly more involved. It sounds initially quite simple: You are to defeat 10 Rikers bosses. However, this task consists of 4 phases, where you are allowed to kill 40 and then 50 bosses in the following phases – each! In total, 150 Rikers bosses need to be eliminated for the mask. This requires an extremely long grind, which is hardly feasible by December 20.
The community has already found a trick to significantly speed this up:
- Load World Tier 1 – This is done via the map by pressing “Change Tier”
- Select Lexington Event Center on normal difficulty. Play solo.
- Run to the boss Larae Barrett.
- Kill her – preferably with a sniper. If you have sufficient damage output, a single headshot will suffice.
- Let yourself die.
- Upon respawning, you will be back at Larae Barrett. Kill her and let yourself die again.
- Repeat this until you have the 150 kills.
Note: Kill Larae as soon as you see her after running up the stairs. If you miss the shot, she will become immune and it will take longer.
The masks are purely cosmetic items. They were first introduced with update 1.7, which sparked discussions. They could initially only be obtained through buggy leaderboards. They are now tied to the commendations.
