The latest State of the Game for The Division just aired. In the live stream, it was confirmed that The Division 2 will be playable at this year’s Gamescom. Additionally, there is a new Shield, and the Survival DLC will be free for a week so that everyone can access the Shield.
Today, the State of the Game aired. In this stream, the developers speak directly to the community and make announcements or just chat about things related to The Division.
This week, the developers had a few announcements ready.

The Division 2 will be playable at Gamescom
As with its predecessor, The Division 2 will also be represented at Gamescom in Cologne. This was confirmed both in the stream and via Twitter through the official Ubisoft account.
The Division 2 will be part of the huge line-up. Visitors will be able to form their own opinions.
Mein-MMO will also try out The Division 2: Our authors will be on-site in Cologne and take a look at The Division 2. We will keep you updated.
Shield “Phoenix” starts mid-August – Survival is free for a week
After the last Shield “Holy” took until the end of July, the next Shield is coming much quicker.
What are the Shields anyway? These new achievements are supposed to provide various smaller rewards for agents, both in The Division 1 and in part 2, and are released monthly.
When will Phoenix go online? The new Shield will go online on August 16.
Here’s what you need to do for the new Shield:
- Extract five items, survive five hours, and kill five Hunters in Survival
So here, a DLC, in this case Survival, is required to complete the Shield. Previously, the Underground was needed.
Survival DLC is free for a week: Due to complaints from the community, Massive made the Underground DLC available for free for a week.
The Survival DLC will be free for a week, and the promotion starts simultaneously with the Shield.

New info on upcoming patch is delayed
Unfortunately, no new details were given about the upcoming Update 1.8.3. As soon as there is something to announce, they will do so.
What issues should Patch 1.8.3 address? This update is primarily a result of the community’s pressure.
Massive wants to continue fixing bugs and making improvements, even with the ongoing development of The Division 2, if they are really necessary.
What will be changed with the update:
- The “Running in Place” bug, which causes several serious issues, will be fixed,
- and the dominance of the secret Striker set combined with the Showstopper shotgun will be addressed
How these changes will look is still unknown. It is unclear whether both will be nerfed or even completely reworked.
Summary of the State of the Game:
- The Division 2 will be playable for all Gamescom visitors
- New Shield “Phoenix” will go online on August 16, sending you into the Survival mode
- Patch 1.8.3 is still in development, will address the secret Striker and bugs – Smaller changes are also on board
