The Division: Locations of the new named weapons from 1.5 – Are they worth it?

In The Division, we take a look at the “Named Weapons” that were introduced with update 1.5. Where can you find them and what can they do?

In addition to 12 new weapon types, patch 1.5 also brought a total of four new named weapons. These include the Golden Rhino, the “Urban MDR” assault rifle, the Tommy Gun, and the Thompson M1928.

The Division expert WOBO has taken a closer look at these four weapons and shows how they perform compared to other weapons.

Urban MDR

We have already introduced this special assault rifle here. It was once known as the “B.L.I.N.D. Battle Rifle” and has now found its way into the game in revised form. You can obtain it with a low probability in sealed containers found in Survival mode. According to user reports, it can also be found in crates earned through experience points.

It has a rate of fire of 350, a magazine of 20, an optimal range of 28m, and a reload speed of 2.4s. The special feature of the MDR is that it is a semi-automatic weapon – you cannot hold down the trigger, you must press the button once for each shot. This gives the weapon the lowest rate of fire of all assault rifles.

The unique perk is Distracted: Your damage is increased by 10% against enemies suffering from status effects.

Due to its low rate of fire, the numbers from WOBO show that the Urban MDR is among the worst assault rifles in The Division:

A downside is that the crosshair opens up significantly when you pull the trigger repeatedly. Quick accurate shots are therefore difficult.

Golden Rhino

With update 1.5, the Rhino pistols were introduced, including the named weapon “Golden Rhino.” You can obtain it in the Dragon’s Den raid.

This pistol has a rate of fire of 350, a magazine of 6, an optimal range of 18 meters, and a reload speed of 1.8s.

The Golden Rhino comes with the attribute “Increased Threat,” which is particularly interesting for tanking. The unique talent is called “Golden Rhino” and increases staggering by 200%.

A look at the numbers from WOBO reveals that this pistol is among the best in The Division:

Thompson M1928 and Tommy Gun

The last two new named weapons are submachine guns: Thompson M1928 and Tommy Gun. You can obtain the Thompson in underground containers and the Tommy Gun in Dark Zone supply drops.

The advantages in rate of fire and magazine size make the Tommy Gun a significantly better weapon than the Thompson, as you can also see here:

Both weapons become extremely unstable when fired for extended periods. No mods can be applied to counteract this.

Both Thompson and Tommy Gun come with the talent Carefree, which increases hip fire damage by 11%. However, you can only benefit from this if enemies are very close to you. Often, this talent is therefore pointless. The following article is also interesting:
