In The Division, the Legendary difficulty level is supposed to be the biggest PvE challenge. However, at the moment, it is still too easy.
A week ago, the “Legendary” difficulty was introduced. This is intended to provide hardcore agents with a “real challenge,” putting their optimized builds to the test and demanding tactics and teamwork from them.
At the launch of 1.6 and “Last Stand,” three story missions will feature Legendary. They thus represent the biggest PvE challenge in The Division:
- Times Square Electrical Relay
- WarrenGate Power Plant
- Napalm Production Site
Currently, this difficulty can be tested on the PTS. Some agents have already succeeded in completing the missions successfully. You can see how the fun looks in practice in these videos. But beware, spoilers! If you want to explore the revised missions yourself, it’s better not to click on the videos.

The YouTuber LiKe BuTTeR describes the missions as follows: Imagine the LMB soldiers from 1.3 with the AI of Hunters. However, it is quite easy if you go in with a coordinated team.
Legendary is not for everyone
Massive announced that the Legendary difficulty will become harder with PTS Phase 2. Currently, the data shows that the missions are still too easy.
With Legendary, they aim to provide a real challenge for the best agents. Therefore, these missions will not be achievable for everyone. Many agents are expected to struggle with them. Those who manage to master Legendary will know that they have accomplished a great feat.
This is also the reason why you won’t receive exclusive gear through Legendary missions. Because for some agents, these items would be unattainable. Instead, there are only exclusive cosmetic items. And you will receive guaranteed exotic containers.
