In the MMO shooter The Division, an AUG A3 Para XS is available for purchase at the base of operations this week. This weapon is definitely worth considering.
Currently, a submachine gun is a must for agents: At distances of about 20 meters, there’s basically no way around the SMGs if you want to remain competitive in PvE and especially in PvP.
This week, the special equipment vendor has a surprise for you that many agents may have overlooked: He has the AUG A3 Para XS in stock – but “only” with a gear score of 182. Is it still worth acquiring this weapon?
This week’s AUG receives a clear purchase recommendation
In this AUG lies a little monster. The YouTuber Arekkz Gaming gives you reasons why you can grab this weapon without hesitation.
Beforehand: The Gear Score as a mere number means little: You need certain values to start some activities – but a direct indication of a weapon’s “true strength” is not given by the gear score. A weapon with 204 is not always better than one with 182.
If a weapon with a gear score of 204 is superior to one with 182, it is not due to the “Gear Score” number, but to the better stats that the weapon comes with.
This week, it is the case that a submachine gun with 182 in the special equipment vendor’s offer comes with really strong advantages and should not be overlooked due to the lower score.
This AUG A3 Para XS comes with the following fixed talents:
- Deadly: The damage from critical hits is increased by 26% (Requirement: 1889 firearms). This talent is one of the best you can get for SMGs.
- Responsive: The damage is increased by 13% when you are closer than 10 meters to the target (Requirement: 2362 firearms, 1417 stamina). This talent is also fruitful for SMGs, as you will be getting very close to enemies in many situations.
- Swift: Reloading is 13% faster. This talent is always active but does not top the list of the best talents. However, a shorter reload time means you can deal damage more quickly. Therefore, it can definitely be seen as useful.
In addition, it has a bonus of +25% critical hit chance.
Without mods, the fire rate is 725 and the magazine size is 25.
Arekkz compares this AUG with his previous Tactical AUG, which has a gear score of 204.
The latter has a higher base damage (12.2K compared to 11K), but the “critical hit chance” bonus is lower at 23.5%. The Tactical AUG comes with Brutal (+24.5% headshot damage) Swift and Destructive. At the shooting range, he compares both weapons with their talents and comes to this conclusion:
The AUG with gear score 182 is superior in all areas to the AUG with 204, except for headshot damage. Here, the Tactical AUG has the advantage due to the Brutal talent. You can watch the complete test in the video embedded above.
When asked whether buying the AUG this week is advisable, the answer is: Yes. It will enrich the arsenal of many agents – unless you already have a similarly strong AUG in your inventory.
However, if you own a blueprint of the AUG, you can also craft SMGs with even better talents and stats. However, if you are not a fan of crafting or simply have no luck with it, you can strike a good deal with this AUG at the special equipment vendor for little Phoenix Credits. It will cost you 206 Phoenix Credits and can be purchased until Saturday at 2 AM.
