In Tom Clancy’s The Division we take a closer look at the new assault rifle FAMAS.
Since Update 1.5, there are 12 new weapons and 4 new named weapons in the game. These weapon types can only be looted at World Rank 5. This includes the assault rifle FAMAS.
This is what makes FAMAS special in The Division
The FAMAS is a fully automatic assault rifle in The Division (in other shooters, it partially fires in bursts) that comes with an extremely high fire rate of 900. By comparison, the AK-74 has a fire rate of 600. Since the FAMAS has a standard magazine size of 30 rounds, you will have to reload often. Therefore, opt for an extended magazine mod. The base damage and stability are low:
The optimal range is 28 meters. Compared to other assault rifles, the FAMAS is an average weapon. Despite the high fire rate, the burst damage does not stand out, as can be seen in the following graphic. The rise of the white line shows the damage dealt by a full magazine. The horizontal line represents the reload time:
All FAMAS assault rifles come with an interesting perk:
- Uncomplicated: Weapon damage is increased by 15%. However, precision and stability mods reduce this bonus.
An example:
- Without mods, the damage bonus is 15%.
- With a weapon mod that increases precision by 10%, the bonus is 13.5%.

How to use the FAMAS in The Division?
If you hold down the trigger, the weapon pulls strongly upward. However, it only pulls upward; the deviation to the left or right is negligible. If you counteract the vertical recoil, the weapon can be controlled even without mods.
Especially in Survival Mode, this weapon is interesting. Because here you have to craft all your gear yourself – including the mods. If you prefer to invest your materials in other items rather than mods, you can gain advantages with this weapon from resource scarcity.
According to Arekkz Gaming, this weapon feels really good in terms of gunplay. It is fun to play with the fast-firing FAMAS. In the video, you can see it in action. Besides Survival Mode, it is also strong in PvP because it deals a lot of damage in a short time. In PvE, weapons that deal damage over time are better.
By the way: The Uncomplicated talent only loses its effectiveness through mods. If you receive bonuses via gear sets or from other sources, the benefit of the talent remains fully intact. Therefore, combinations with equipment sets, such as AlphaBridge, are particularly exciting for the FAMAS.
