First general information: Update 1.6 and “Last Stand” will not have time exclusivity – they will be released simultaneously on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. A release date is not yet available.
Beforehand, a PTS phase will take place, which does not have a date yet. These public test servers are only accessible for players on PC. Players on PS4 and Xbox One cannot reach them.
1.6 Expands the Dark Zone
Both 1.6 and Last Stand will deliver PvE and PvP content. Most PvE content is still unknown, but Hamish Bode shared some information about the PvP activities today:
With update 1.6, three new Dark Zone classes will come into play: DZ7-9. These will be free for all players. The Dark Zone will be expanded to the north.
Central Park has not been mentioned so far. In short clips, a gloomy atmosphere has emerged in the northern Dark Zone: They want to bring more “death” into the DZ. Many body bags are piling up in the streets. There is fire. There is a lot of new graffiti. Not an inviting place.
Although only three new DZ areas are being added, the DZ will not expand by 50%, but by about 100%. You will get a DZ that is twice as large as before. It goes onto roofs, into the underground, complete buildings can be entered. DZ06 leads to DZ07.
This is the “Last Stand” mode
However, Last Stand is a structured, objective-based PvP mode. It is organized PvP within the DZ. Standalone sessions where agents compete against each other in 8v8 battles!
If you start matchmaking in a group, you will be randomly matched with other groups. If you start the player search solo, you will only be matched with agents who also start solo. Until the session starts, you are in a queue.
“Last Stand” is a kind of conquest mode with additional features. There are three zones to control, A, B, and C. These are called “Tactical Locations”. In each zone, there are three objectives. Only when you have possession of these, does the zone belong to you.
More Info:
There is a respawn. This should happen as quickly as the game allows, so you can get back into the fight quickly. You can spawn near teammates.
“Normalization” of your gear: In this PvP mode, skill should determine the outcome, not superior armor. How this “normalization” will work exactly will be tested on the PTS. Player feedback is needed for this.
You cannot go rogue in the “Last Stand” mode. You also cannot lose loot. Rewards only become available at the end of matches.
You will not run around as “Team Red” or “Team Blue”: Your clothing looks the same as always.
There is a “Last Stand” Rank that you can progress through.
Last Stand will be just the first step regarding standalone PvP. More will come in the future.
There is also a PvE aspect, you can kill AI opponents in Last Stand to collect points, which you can then use to unlock fortifications – like the turret from the teaser trailer.
You can revive teammates with medkits.
What else does the expansion bring?
The DLC introduces a new raid. More specific details are expected tomorrow. In addition to a raid, there will be more PvE content that will be discussed in the future.
There will be no gear score increase, but an AlphaBridge nerf. The community manager calmed the heated spirits a bit: Alpha-Bridge will still be powerful.
