In The Division, you can modify not only your weapons but also your armor. We now present how this works and what options you have.
In the endgame of The Division, it’s all about improving your agent with increasingly powerful gear. One way to enhance your items is through modification. This works not only with your weapons but also with armor pieces.
Which armor can I modify in The Division?
Unlike weapons, which can usually be extensively modified, there are only a few armor items that can be modified. Whether it’s masks, vests, backpacks, gloves, holsters, or knee pads, you can recognize modifiable armor by the slot located at the bottom left next to the symbol:
If the armor has no “slot”, it cannot be modified. You can’t even press the modify button. It is also possible that high-end armors do not have a slot, so this does not necessarily depend on the tier of the armor.
In short: If your armor item has a slot next to the symbol at the bottom left, it can be modified, regardless of the item’s tier.
How can I modify the armor?
In the inventory, you can see all your armor mods at the bottom of the middle column. These can have different ranks and various names, such as “Prototype Electronics Mod” or “Advanced Stamina Mod”, but essentially they all serve the same function: They enhance your armor.
If you want to modify an armor piece, go to an item that has a mod slot, press the modification button, and select a suitable mod for your armor.
Note: If your armor is not modifiable, you can try to make it modifiable at the improvement station. However, the option ” +1 Gear Mod Slot” must be available for this. You can learn how the improvement station works in The Division here.
What advantage does modifying the armor bring me?
With armor mods, you can improve two things: Your attributes and additional stats in the form of bonuses.
For example, if you have chosen your armor so that it improves endurance, you can either increase it further with the mods or focus on other attributes. The latter is important for unlocking your weapon talents. The following mod increases firearms by +107. The attributes are displayed with their symbols on the right side of the screen:
This way, you can keep the base attributes of your current armor and boost additional attributes.
Some mods also grant you bonuses, as seen in the upper image in the form of +2% shock resistance. There are numerous improvements that mods can provide for your armor. Keep in mind that some modifications may only offer bonuses and do not affect attributes.
What attributes and bonuses do you focus on with your armor?
Armors can also have talents. Which talents exist for high-end armors in The Division can be found here.
