In The Division, the release of update 1.8 is approaching. Here are 5 tips on how you can prepare for it.
There is still no official release date for update 1.8 called “Resistance”. It is supposed to be released in autumn 2017 – the developers don’t have much time left.
If you want to start the agent future fully prepared, we have 5 tips for you on how to meaningfully spend the waiting time until the launch in The Division.
Tip 1 – Collect Exotic Containers!
Update 1.8 introduces four new exotics. If you want to get them early, you can now collect exotic containers. Because even in the containers you got in 1.7, the exotics from 1.8 can be included if you open the containers in 1.8.
There are several ways to obtain exotic containers:
- Complete Legendary Missions
- Complete Heroic Incursions
This way you can get 7 containers per week (3 legendary missions, 4 incursions). If you do this with each character, you can farm 28 exotic containers in a week.
If these PvE challenges are too hard for you, you can also collect weekly assignment containers, which also guarantee exotics.
Even if you’re unlucky and don’t receive any of the new exotics in 1.8, it’s worth farming the exotic containers: Because they contain Division-Tech!
Tip 2 – Save Division-Tech
Division-Tech is a resource that has completely lost significance over time. However, in The Division 1.8, it will be more important than ever: Because you now need Division-Tech to optimize your gear.
A new feature in 1.8 is the Optimization Station, which allows you to push the stats and attributes of your weapons and armor pieces to the maximum.
To farm Division-Tech now, you can
- use this Division-Tech farming route
- or open exotic containers. The weekly assignment containers do not drop Division-Tech.
Tip 3 – Increase Your Supply of Crafting Materials
Not only new exotic weapons are coming, but the existing items and talents will also change. To craft the best weapons with the best talents in 1.8, it’s worth stockpiling crafting materials now.
For this, there is an efficient method: Buy items from the vendors for credits and dismantle them to receive crafting materials.
Here’s a good tip: Equip your agent with items with low gear score. Transfer all high-quality items (mods are not needed) to the stash and then to your other agents, so that this agent has no access to them for now. This will cause vendors to offer you items with low gear score, which are much cheaper. This way you can buy items extremely cheaply and then dismantle them into crafting materials.
Tip 4 – Clean Up Your Stash
Make room for new things! Most of you will have all sorts of green gear set pieces in your stash that you think “you might need them sometime”. After update 1.8, new global events will introduce “secret set pieces” for all gear sets. These are guaranteed to be better than the normal set pieces.
So, get rid of the old gear set pieces that you will not use anymore.
Tip 5 – Save Key Fragments
Lastly, a tip for everyone who places great value on their agent’s appearance.
With update 1.8, new cosmetic items will arrive, which can be purchased from the premium vendor through certain containers. These containers can be bought with real money or opened with cipher keys. These keys can be earned in-game. You need a total of 10 key fragments to craft one key. Each named boss has a 20% chance to drop a fragment.
If you want the new cosmetics but don’t want to spend money on them, then start farming key fragments now. This is particularly efficient in the Dragon’s Nest Incursion, where you can repeatedly defeat the four horsemen. You can play the incursion at any world tier.
