In The Division 1.6 and “Last Stand” are coming soon. We provide 5 quick tips on how to prepare for it.
The next content delivery in Ubisoft’s shared-world shooter is in sight: Update 1.6 and the paid DLC “Last Stand” have been completed and are already with Microsoft and Sony for review. The release shouldn’t take too long.
Many agents are now asking: What can I do until the new content arrives? Is it even worth going on a loot hunt now?
The short answer is: Yes! Update 1.6 does not introduce a new world tier, and the maximum gear score of 256 remains intact. You do not need to completely re-equip yourself when 1.6 comes out. Therefore, you can do a few things now to ensure a smooth launch. Here’s our quick guide on how to prepare for 1.6.
Tip 1: Buy named weapons now
This tip was already revealed weeks ago by an ETF member. Now we also know why we should stock up on named weapons right now: Because these will be converted to exotic weapons with unique talents.
You can currently buy named weapons from the special equipment vendor in the Terminal and from the advanced weapons seller in the Base. You can find the locations of all named weapons in the provided link. In 1.6, it will be harder to get Exotics.
Tip 2: Collect weekly assignment containers
Recently officially confirmed by Massive: Start collecting the containers you receive as rewards for weekly assignments. You can find these assignments in the mission overview.
The weekly assignment containers will be significantly improved with 1.6: They will contain more items, including an exotic item. The rule is: The containers you keep now will contain Exotics after 1.6!
Tip 3: Skill power and electronics!
Update 1.6 significantly changes the stats on armor pieces: Skill power will become a focal point. If you want your skills to remain effective, you need to focus more on this stat than before. Therefore:
- Look for armor pieces that increase electronics and thus skill power.
- Buy and search for armor mods with electronics.
If you currently have a character build with low “skill power,” your skills will hardly be effective in 1.6.
Tip 4: Search for these weapons and armor pieces
This tip consists of five insights:
- The FAMAS will become an Exotic and will be called Bullfrog starting from 1.6. Grab it now. Currently, a FAMAS is available for purchase.
- Keep your gear sets. As AlphaBridge will be nerfed, new gear sets will vie for the throne with 1.6. So don’t dismantle your gear sets hastily; you might still do very well with them in 1.6. By the way: The SEEKR Set will not be coming with 1.6. It needs further adjustments.
- SMGs are getting their old strength back! So look for some nice submachine guns and see how they perform with their critical hit chance in 1.6. You can already start keeping mods that increase crit damage.
- High-end armor pieces with Specialization are recommended.
- Since AlphaBridge will only transfer the third (always active) talent, you should look for weapons that have a strong talent in that position if you still want to use AlphaBridge.

Tip 5: Save currencies
Finally, a tip you can’t go wrong with: Save your currencies now, like Phoenix Credits or credits.
- In 1.6, you can recalibrate the talents as many times as you want. However, the costs will increase up to a set maximum (after the fifth time). So you can never have enough currency.
- With 1.6, the cap for Phoenix Credits is raised to 5000. If you have already reached the maximum of 2000 by 1.6, you can continue to collect immediately after.
