In The Division, we provide tips and tricks on how to quickly increase your Gear Score in the Underground. This works both solo and in a team.
With update 1.3, the maximum gear score increased. Armor pieces can now reach the new maximum limit of 268, and weapons can reach 229. There are various ways to acquire items with maximum values:
- Through HVTs
- In the new Dark Zone class 231+, from boss drops and even in DZ crates
- In the new and old raids on the corresponding difficulty levels
- In the Underground
The most efficient way to level up your Gear Score
According to Arekkz Gaming, there is a way to level up your score that is by far the most efficient: the Underground. You can complete the Underground missions solo or in a team, although a strike team is recommended: Because as a lone wolf, you won’t progress as quickly and have no one to revive you in case of emergency.
When you play the missions, you will gradually level up in the Underground rank. And now the special part: With each rank increase, you receive Underground containers, which function like the Sealed Containers in the Dark Zone. With each container, you have the chance to obtain an item with the max Gear Score. If you actively play the Underground and quickly climb the ranks, you will be delivered one chance after another to snag the top-tier items.
But beware: Massive shared in a livestream that the contents of these containers depend on your current score. Arekkz himself was already at 225. This is enough to receive items with max level. It is uncertain at what value the best items will drop from these containers.
However, they are excellent for leveling up your score – no matter what base score you have. If you open enough of them, you will soon exceed 250. The Underground containers are your key to efficiently boosting your score. Since you can also play Underground missions solo, you are not dependent on a strike team – as is the case in the Incursions.
However, you earn more experience points for completing Underground missions when you increase the difficulty and modify them. Therefore, the most efficient solution is a strong strike team with which you go into the Underground:
- Normal: 500 XP
- Hard: 750 XP
- Challenging: 1000 XP
- Heroic: 1250 XP
With directives, you can make the missions harder, which grants you additional XP upon completion.
The Underground containers can also be randomly dropped by enemies. Tip: If you receive items with high Gear Scores that do not match your build, it is still worth equipping them. This increases your chance of obtaining better items in the next container.
Additionally: Each of your characters has an individual Underground rank. You therefore receive the tasty loot containers with each character when you level up.
With a bit of luck, you can already have a strong setup in the Underground after just a few hours.
