In The Division 2, reaching max level 30 unlocks the Gear Score. This shows how high the stats of your gear are. We will show you how to quickly increase your Gear Score.
That’s why Gear Score is important: The Gear Score not only indicates the overall strength of your gear. After reaching level 30, it is also a requirement to complete strongholds again and increase the World Ranks.
Therefore, after level 30, you mainly deal with collecting higher gear and increasing your Gear Score. We will show you the best way to do this.
What is the limit? The soft cap of the Gear Score is currently at 450 with World Rank 4. With World Rank 5, the cap of the Gear Score is expected to increase to 500.
However, it is already possible to go significantly beyond 450.
Stock Up at the Vendors
That’s why shopping is worth it: One of the fastest ways to increase your Gear Score is likely to buy higher Gear Score items from vendors.
You can find vendors at the White House or in settlements.
It’s worth checking back after each rank increase. The vendors’ offerings scale with your World Rank, so this should always be the first thing you do.
Capture Control Points
That’s why capturing control points is worth it: These open-world activities are quite generous when it comes to rewards.
If you capture a control point, there are often several loot crates (up to 3) waiting in the supply room, rewarding you with gear.
With a bit of luck, you will constantly find new, stronger gear, thus increasing your Gear Score.
Additionally, the crates reset after 24 hours. If you keep the control point under civilian control, you will be permanently supplied with loot.
However, the reset does not apply to the large crates. To refill these, a control point must first be taken over by enemy NPCs and then recaptured.
Complete Bounties
That’s why bounties are worth it: These are essentially short missions where you have to eliminate specific targets.
They are limited and require target data to start. However, if you are not playing on the highest difficulty levels, they are relatively easy to complete and reward you with a lot of gear.
Some bounties even reward you with specific weapon classes. So, if you want to try different weapons, missions with their specific rewards are ideal.
Additionally, you can also level the skills of your specialization, which you unlock at level 30. Some completed bounty missions give skill points for the specialization you are playing at the time.
Open Faction Containers
That’s why faction containers are worth it: In the crates that can only be opened with faction keys, there is often high-quality loot.

Dare to Venture into the Dark Zone
That’s why a visit is worth it: In the Dark Zone, you can also find useful gear with a bit of luck.
Solo players should be warned, however, that rogue player groups often hunt individual players.
However, if you really do not want to encounter PvP, the Dark Zone is probably not a good alternative.
Projects Reward You with Loot
That’s why completing projects is worth it: Many of the projects you receive in the settlements provide you with valuable gear.
Additionally, they unlock new bounty missions which, as mentioned above, are also an effective way to farm gear.
Ask Friends Who Are Already Further Ahead
If you have friends who are already in higher world ranks than you, you can play with them.
They can simply pass on the loot they find on missions with you. If they have already reached higher Gear Score caps, they will automatically find gear that matches your World Rank cap.
This works even before you reach level 30.
A Few General Tips
- From World Rank 1-3, it is not worth it to build specific builds. You will quickly rise in Gear Score and replace many parts again. Wait until the current highest World Rank 4.
- You will find better loot if you have high Gear Score gear in your inventory or stash. You do not need to have the parts equipped for that. How exactly this works has already been explained by Massive: So, better gear drops.
- Open your level containers immediately. They scale with your Gear Score at the time you receive the containers. So, it is not worth saving them. They usually reward you with better gear, which subsequently increases your Gear Score.
