Here’s how to find and farm the Hyena, Outcast, and True Sons keys in The Division 2 . In our guide, we show you a farming route.
What are these faction keys? In the streets of Washington D.C., you can find all sorts of loot. Open chests, loot backpacks, or grab the items dropped by fallen enemies.
Many of you may already have stumbled upon small chests that can only be opened with certain faction keys. Especially early in the game, you’ll need “Hyena keys,” but the other factions also have such mysterious chests lying around.
What’s inside the faction chests? You will find the chests scattered throughout the world as you progress through the campaign, such as in main missions or side missions. They are particularly valuable as they not only drop “normal” loot but also some exotic gear components. When you complete these, you can craft Exotics.
But how do you get the needed Hyena keys and those from the other factions?
Locations of faction keys are in the underground
Here’s how to find Hyena keys: You can quickly get the keys you are looking for when you venture into the underground of Washington D.C.
Look for these symbols (yellow circle with downward arrow), they mark the underground entrances:
Some of these entrances only lead to safehouses or mission areas, but others lead into the sewer system. When you’re in the sewer, you will often find the keys.
Keep an eye out for gray key boxes hanging on the walls. They look like this:
A good underground entrance for Hyena keys should be this one, located south of the White House:
If you want to find the keys on your own, you should search the walls in the underground and keep an eye out for these boxes. Otherwise, you will find a farming route below.
Farming route for the keys of the Hyenas, Outcast, True Sons
This is how you can farm the keys: In the video by Arekkz Gaming, a farming route is shown, showing how you can get as many faction keys as possible in a short time.
Start here, near Roosevelt Island:

Then follow the path shown in the video starting at minute 2:04. This way, you will encounter several key boxes that contain faction keys:
According to user reports, the boxes reset every 24 hours. Then you can loot them again. However, other users report that this is not the case for them. It’s best to write in the comments what experiences you’ve had with the boxes so far.
The keys (Hyenas, True Sons, or Outcast) that you receive from the key boxes are said to be random. If you are in an area occupied by a specific faction, the chance is said to be higher that there are keys from that faction there.
There are also said to be keys of the Black Tusk.
