A bug in Palworld can permanently reduce your catching skill if you use a certain item. Even the developers warn against using it.
What kind of bug is it? The developers of Palworld have warned on the official Discord server of the game against using an item, as a game glitch can permanently affect your character’s abilities.
According to this, the item “Memory Reset Drug” is said to decrease your catching skill due to a bug. The item is normally used to reset your distributed skill points so that you can redistribute them if you made a mistake during distribution. It works similarly to the Potion of Forgetting in ARK: Survival Evolved.
This means your catching skill would be permanently decreased if you consume the item, as according to the developers, it is “impossible to recover from it” (via Discord).
What is catching skill? A higher catching skill helps you to be more successful when catching Pals. The calculated catching chance during a catching attempt is then potentially higher than if you have not increased your catching skill beforehand.
If you want to increase your catching skill, you need to approach a “Statue of Power” and choose “improve own abilities,” and then sacrifice so-called Lifmunk statuettes there. These are small, green-glowing statues of the Pal “Lifmunk”.
You can find and collect Lifmunk statuettes all over the map. Often they are even located on slopes or small hills and mountains. Due to their green glow, you can find them particularly well at night.
