In Helldivers 2, humanity has won the battle against the robots, but just a week earlier, they surprised even the developers.
How were the developers surprised? Just a few weeks ago, hardly any player wanted to fight against the robots. Most players preferred to focus on the bugs and didn’t pay much attention to the general commands from the high command right at the start of the game.
But at one point, the behavior of the players changed. Suddenly, 70 % of the Helldivers fought against the robots and followed the general command.
This even surprised the developers; community manager “Spitz” wrote about it on the Helldivers Discord: “We actually expected that many fewer players would switch to the Automaton front, 70 % is huge.”
Soon, a new war bond will be released, here you can watch the trailer for the “Democratic Detonation” war bond.
70 % of players cause the fall of the robots
How did so many players come about? After the beginnings of Helldivers were made, more and more players became interested in the general commands and the roleplay behind Helldivers 2. By the end of March, the peak was reached when 70 % of the player base decided to fight against the robots.
The players of Helldivers 2 are organized in many different communities that are interconnected. On Reddit, plans are regularly shared about which planets are next to attack. The players and their plans became better and better, and thus the final victory over the robots could also be achieved.
Do the players’ plans work? The players’ plans mostly work, but not always. This has already led to much discussion in the Helldivers 2 community. The “Bugdivers,” i.e., the players who only want to fight bugs, have been strongly attacked by the other players.
So much so that community manager “Spitz” had to intervene. He wrote on Discord: “70 % of the players fought against bots, and we brought Ubanea to 96 % before Draupnir fell. I would say people have no problem fighting where the general command sends them.”
Now that the robots have been defeated, only the bugs remain as enemies of the Helldiver. Currently, you can no longer fight against the robots, even if you don’t like the bugs. However, players want to have found that another faction is already involved: Players find evidence in Helldivers 2 that a new enemy faction is already involved
