On Thursday, October 10th, the World Championships in League of Legends continue. It could be really tough hours for the teams from Europe and the USA. The draw has produced some blockbuster matches: G2 will face T1 with Faker on Friday. On Saturday, Fnatic will play for everything or nothing against a very strong opponent.
What is happening at the Worlds?
- The decision matches are now starting at the Worlds. The last 2 days of the main phase have begun. In the coming days, it will be decided which teams will go home and which will stay in the tournament. The individual matches are over. Now there are only “Best of Three” series.
- The best team in the West, G2, drew the tough match-up: They will face T1 and Faker, the reigning world champion. Whoever wins the game is guaranteed to advance. Whoever loses is already one step from being eliminated.
- FlyQuest still has two chances to advance, but Fnatic and Team Liquid are already against the wall.
G2 vs. T1 is likely to set a viewership record on German Twitch
This is the most important match: On Friday, October 11th, at 2 PM, G2 and T1 will play against each other in a Best-of-Three series. Both teams are at 2:1 and need one more win to advance.
Whoever loses the game will have to play in a “win or go home” match on Sunday. If things go really poorly, a killer match-up like Bilibili Gaming, the Chinese champions, could be waiting here.
The match between the two crowd favorites will definitely be a highlight – Faker against Caps in the mid lane or BrokenBlade against Zeus on the top lane. It won’t get much better than this.
This will surely set a viewership record for the German caster Tolkin, who is already having a heart attack as he is an ultra-fan of both teams.
How does it look for the USA? Already on Thursday at 5 PM, FlyQuest will play against the champion from South Korea, Hanwha Life. This will likely result in a bloodbath. Anything other than a clear victory for the South Koreans would be a surprise.
When could it get bitter? Fnatic will face the Chinese team Weibo Gaming on Saturday at 2 PM. They must win this game, otherwise, it’s over for them. There aren’t many chances for a surprise here.
Both G2 and Fnatic have pretty much drawn the worst possible match-ups, but also the ones with the most glory to win.
Team Liquid had better luck, they play at 5 PM on Saturday against GAM Esports, a very nice team, but probably the weakest opponent available.
