After more than 5 years in the grave, the MMORPG RaiderZ is getting a new chance. A new publisher wants to revive the game.
When MMORPGs have passed away because they are no longer considered profitable, then the death is usually permanent. However, there are a few exceptions, such as ELOA and Asta, which have risen from the grave under new publishers.
Now another game that was discontinued about 5 years ago is being revived: RaiderZ. At that time, the game had only a lifespan of about 9 months and never left open beta in Europe.
RaiderZ features an action-oriented combat system and is often compared to TERA, although many players describe it as a “cheap TERA knockoff.” Nevertheless, the game was a solid representative of the genre and was popular as a Free2Play variant. Those who enjoyed grinding their time away while actively dodging or blocking enemies could find happiness in RaiderZ.
However, RaiderZ has also faced significant criticism over time, as not all systems were accepted by fans. While the action combat system was popular, the controls felt sluggish. Since RaiderZ is a Free2Play game, some systems were tied to a cash shop. For instance, those who wanted to redistribute their talent points had to unlock this in the shop first. Hiding such an essential mechanic behind a paywall was viewed negatively by many at the time.
Previously under the publisher Gameforge, RaiderZ will now be managed by Masangsoft. They want to “reinvent” the game and have not yet provided a specific date for its relaunch.
Will you take another look at RaiderZ when it celebrates its “re-release”? Or has the train already left many years ago, and does RaiderZ have no chance anymore today?
