CoD Vanguard offers again an extended trial period during which you can try out the current installment of the CoD shooter series. What you can play during these 2 weeks and what the presumed goal of the developers is, you can find out here on MeinMMO.
What is the deal with the free version? From March 30 to April 13, 2022, you can play Call of Duty: Vanguard, the current installment of the CoD series, for free. Just download the game on the platform of your choice and immediately start with the multiplayer part of the game.
The campaign is, however, not playable for free. It is only about the fun multiplayer mode of the shooter, which offers you a selection of maps and a completely new mode from Season 2 in the free version.
You can keep your progress in the game if you decide to buy Vanguard later.
Vanguard offers 2 new maps and a new mode for free
What maps and modes are available? For the free version of CoD Vanguard, the developers have prepared a few special maps and modes. First of all, you get 2 new maps from Season 2, Casablanca and Gondola.
Casablanca puts you in the Moroccan city and offers you a medium-sized map. There are three “lanes” that go around a marketplace in the center. Additionally, there are several elevation levels, which means that combat takes place not only on the ground but also vertically.
Vertical combat is even more present on the map Gondola, where you fight around and in a cable car above a gorge.
If you are looking for a new game mode, you get one with a special map in the Alps. This mode resembles Warzone a bit and offers vehicles and a buy station. There, you can purchase killstreaks or complete prepared loadouts, among other things.
The objective is to capture and hold all bases on the map.
If you prefer less tactics but more glorious chaos and epic shooting, you will find happiness in the infamous “ShipHaus” playlist. There, the small maps The House and Shipment appear, where hardly a second goes by without someone getting shot, blown up, crushed by bombs, or eaten by dogs.
According to the developers, additional maps and modes are expected to be Hotel Royale, Dome, and Radar, which you can play in modes like Domination, Control, and Hardpoint.
What are the reasons behind the action? Such free trial accesses have already occurred in previous CoD games, and Vanguard has had such actions several times already. This may stem from the fact that the current CoD title has not sold particularly well.
According to the site GamesIndustryBiz, the sales figures for Vanguard were 40 percent worse than those for its predecessor Cold War. The latter was also lower in sales than its predecessor Modern Warfare from 2019. Reasons include the World War setting and the competition with the free battle royale version Warzone.
It could also be that players are slowly getting tired of the high frequency of new games in the CoD series. However, it is rumored that after the new CoD 2022 there might not be a new game in the Call of Duty series every year anymore.
