Keiichiro Toyama developed one of the most well-known and influential horror games with Silent Hill. His latest horror game is currently receiving very positive feedback on Steam.
What kind of game is this? Slitterhead is an action horror game on Steam and the first game from Bokeh Game Studio, which was founded by Silent Hill creator Keiichiro Toyama. A gameplay trailer for the game was showcased at the Summer Game Fest 2024.

Ghostly Protagonist and Bloody Action
What does the trailer show? You play as the Hyoki. This is a kind of spirit that, although bodiless, can possess and control living beings. The Hyoki has only one goal: the eradication of all Slitterheads, which are monsters that disguise themselves as humans and devour brains.
The setting is the neon-lit streets of Kowlong. Among the people in the city, there are those who have a special bond with the Hyoki. These “Rarities” are crucial in the fight against the Slitterheads, as they grant you access to stronger abilities.
As a Hyoki, you can possess any person. Quickly switching hosts is not only useful for exploring the city but also in combat. When one body reaches its limit, the next one is waiting for you. In battle, you use blood to create weapons like swords, claws, or even a mini-MG.
How is the game currently being received? Since its release, 375 people have already written reviews on Steam, of which 81% are positive, and the game is rated overall as “very positive”.
For many, Slitterhead feels like a game from the PS3 era, both for better and worse. The combat is sometimes quite clunky and offers room for improvement, but the world-building, atmosphere, and music often redeem it.
Slitterhead was released on November 8, 2024, for the following platforms:

Meanwhile, the Silent Hill franchise is also making a comeback. A comprehensive remake of the second part was released in October. Toyama, by the way, did not work on it himself anymore.
