With the release of the March update, several changes have been made in Destiny 2. The Companion App will also receive some new features at the same time. This will change on April 4 in the app.
How the Companion App for Destiny 2 is Changing
Bungie has worked on bringing back one of the most requested features from the original Destiny Companion App – The full view of your Guardian in 3D, which you can then share with your friends. Similar to the game itself, Bungie seems to be aligning the Companion App more closely with its predecessor.
You can expect the following upon the release of this feature:
- You can view the individual models of all your weapons, ships, Sparrows, and Ghosts on both Android and iOS.
- Create your Guardian and your gear with all shader and ornament combinations of your choice.
- It is also possible to deactivate this preview if the device becomes overloaded.

Furthermore, Bungie’s team is currently working on the enhancement of the existing recruitment function and will soon release a beta of the revised function on iOS and the web. This version is expected to replace the existing “Find Fireteam” feature in the near future. Here’s a little preview of what you can expect in the upcoming update:
- Form fireteams in your clans and decide whether they should remain private for your clan or be public for all.
- As a fireteam founder, you can send invitations directly from the app to Sony and Xbox platforms.
- You can either set a reminder for your fireteam using the calendar within the app or start immediately.
Bungie will also make some improvements to the usability of the website and the Companion App:
- The layout and navigation of the homepage will be adjusted to present the most relevant articles and information more effectively.
- The merchant details on iOS and Android will display all available destination and tower merchants with their respective inventories in addition to their possible rewards.
- The navigation of the iOS app will be updated and will include your account information, where you can find your profile, communication, and app settings.
