Warhammer III: Total War has received its next update with 6.3. There are massive changes for certain factions. The developers’ recommendation: Definitely start a new campaign.
This is what the developers say: The developers explain in the official blog about update 6.3 that normally you can continue using your old save files after an update. However, the current update is so extensive, especially regarding balancing, that they recommend starting a new campaign.
So writes Liam Newman, Senior Live QA Technician for Total War: Warhammer III:
Normally you can just continue with an existing campaign after a patch update, but with this patch we recommend starting a new campaign due to the numerous changes made in the context of the rebalancing of traits as well as the changes to the Tomb Kings and Lizardmen.
Warhammer III, Update 6.3: Here is everything included
Rework of existing factions: With update 6.3, particularly factions that have been in Warhammer for a longer time are being revamped:
- The Tomb Kings were released for Warhammer II (January 2018) and have received a significant rework. This should make the Tomb Kings feel fresh and, above all, competitive again.
- The Lizardmen appeared in several DLCs for Warhammer (“Prophet and the Warlock”, “Hunter and the Beast” and “Silence and the Fury”) and are also receiving a major update with update 6.3.
Improvements include new units, new tech trees, and updated abilities. Liam Newman mentions the extensive adjustments as a reason to restart the campaign. You can find the full patch notes for update 6.3 directly from the developer.
New strange locations: In addition, around 20 new strange locations will be added in Warhammer III. These are locations that can appear in your settlements and may have various effects, such as additional garrison units or a loss of stability in your settlement. The developer explained that these locations were so well received when introduced with update 5.2 that they are now adding more.
New camera feature: If you zoom in close enough during a real-time battle, you will now see blood splatters on your screen. If necessary, you can also disable the new feature.
New audio recordings: The developers have also re-recorded some voicelines in the game. Among other things, Alberic, Duke of Bordeleaux finally receives an update. Mean jokes have been made about Alberic for years.
Fans were hoping for a first glimpse of the last faction that is supposed to be featured in the upcoming DLC for Total War: Warhammer 3 or even for a release date. Instead, the developers are now announcing a delay: Total War: Warhammer 3 plans a huge DLC for the summer, wants to revamp 2 factions, now has to postpone everything
