With The Amazing Eternals, Digital Extremes, the developers of the currently popular online action game Warframe, wanted to enter the market of online card games. However, the project has been put on hold.
The developers at Digital Extremes state that they discussed the status of The Amazing Eternals (formerly Keystone) for a long time and ultimately decided to pause work for the time being. They had worked long and hard on a game that showed great potential.

Online card game had no chance
However, when the team looked at the current gaming landscape and saw how the title performed during the closed beta, they realized that The Amazing Eternals simply could not attract enough players to create a solid player base.
Therefore, the project has been put on hold for now to rethink the design. In the future, they want to dig the title up again to see if it can still be successfully positioned in the market.
A highly competitive market
The market for online card games is highly competitive, and there are already several successful titles, including Hearthstone, Gwent, Magic: The Gathering, and Hex: Shards of Fate, as well as The Elder Scrolls Legends. Another title faces extreme challenges in establishing itself.
Anyone who has already spent money on The Amazing Eternals will get it back. The servers of the online card game will be shut down on November 2. For now, Digital Extremes will focus on the online action game Warframe. Not a bad idea, considering how well it is performing right now.
The idea of The Amazing Eternals was not bad at all, as the game was meant to mix card game and shooter elements. However, the concept simply did not resonate well with players.
