Stormfront has a deeper connection with Homelander
Stormfront is another character who was actually male in the comics. There, he was a supe born in Nazi Germany and gained powers thanks to Compound V. Up to the present, he was a member of Team Payback and the real leader, even if Soldier Boy pretended to be so outwardly. His DNA was used to create Homelander.
In the series, Clara Vought is the supe Stormfront. She was married to Frederik Vought and, through his research, became the first supe in the world. As an ex-Nazi woman, she was just as racist as comic Stormfront and tried to further her agenda as a member of the Seven.
In the series, she is not just a powerful supe; in season 2, she develops into a consultant and a love interest of Homelander. Her Nazi past is woven into Vought’s ideas much less clumsily, which makes the satire work better. Later, it is revealed that Soldier Boy and Stormfront founded Herogasm together, which contextualizes the relationship with Homelander.
As Soldier Boy’s son, the relationship with Stormfront reveals Homelander’s Oedipal thoughts that had already been shown with Stillwell in season 1.
