In 2023, Unrecord made waves with its hyper-realistic graphics, and now the developer of the shooter has a big announcement: thanks to investor funding, including from a mega-corporation in gaming, they can now fully commence production of the game.
What kind of game is it? Unrecord is a first-person shooter, modeled after the camera perspective of a bodycam – much like those worn by American police officers. Combined with the mostly photorealistic graphics in Unreal Engine 5, the game has garnered significant attention.
For a long time, there was relatively little news about the project, until the developer of Unrecord resurfaced in 2025. Now there’s more big news, as the game is now – thanks to some strong financial partners – in full production.

Bodycam shooter starts production, receives funding from Tencent
The current status of Unrecord: The developer studio DRAMA announced in a X post that they finally have the budget to fully focus on the production of the game.
Today we are proud to announce that we finally have the budget to realize UNRECORD and develop the best possible game. […] We are now fully focused on production and are avoiding showing unfinished content in order to raise the bar even higher.

The team also thanks its investors in this post, who apparently have already had the chance to play the game. A look at the LinkedIn profile of Alexandre Spindler, co-founder of the studio and creative director of Unrecord, reveals: one of these investors is Tencent.
The mega-corporation from China has been heavily investing in gaming for years. Tencent owns Riot Games, the developers of League of Legends, as well as stakes in studios like Epic Games, Blizzard, and Ubisoft.
Now that funding is secured, they plan to share updates in 2026 that “reflect the actual final vision.” When exactly, the developers have not yet shared – nor have they indicated when to expect a release. However, it sounds like 2026 might be too early for that.
