The Black Death: The Militia Class, the Combat System and Infection with the Plague

Next month, the early access phase of the survival MMORPG The Black Death will begin. The developers have now introduced the militia and the combat system.

In the MMO The Black Death, you can take on many roles. One of them is to be part of the militia. The militia is a group of former soldiers who now work as mercenaries. As a militia member, you can handle weapons and are experienced in combat. A new video introduces this class.

Dangerous Fights

The video shows what a day in the life of a militia member looks like. You explore the world, attack bandits to acquire loot, team up with other militia members, and can resort to violence if you need food, for example. However, fighting always carries a risk, as there is permadeath in the world of The Black Death. If you die, you lose everything. Therefore, you should always carefully consider whether you want to engage in a fight or not, as even an unassuming farmer can become a threat in a conflict.

If you are wounded, you bleed and consequently lose more health. As a militia member, you have limited knowledge of healing and must ensure to promptly visit a monk who can attend to your wounds. It is also possible to create rudimentary bandages to at least stop the most severe bleeding.

The Plague Spreads

Those who belong to the militia are allowed to venture into the dangerous areas of the game world. There, where the plague rages. However, you can easily become infected, so it’s better to stay away from those who have contracted the plague. The plague in The Black Death leads, in advanced stages, to the infected falling into madness. They will then attack everything and everyone. Eating rotten food also leads to infection.
