The beta of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare has started on PlayStation 4, and PC and Xbox One will follow soon. If you want not only to test but also to rack up kills, you should equip the best loadout.
How long does the beta last? The current beta for PlayStation 4 runs from September 12 – 16. During this time, it is only open to pre-order players from September 12 – 13, and from the 14th onwards for all PS4 players. Then from the 19th to 23rd, the beta for PS4, Xbox One, and PC will take place.

How many weapons are there? Modern Warfare is expected to launch with 40 weapons, of which 33 weapons were known as of July. However, you unlock the weapons through leveling, and since you can only play up to level 10 in the beta, the selection of weapons is also limited.
You will still receive a small selection in the following weapon classes:
- Assault Rifles (AR)
- Submachine Guns (SMG)
- Shotguns
- Pistols
There will also be sniper rifles and light machine guns, but only one weapon will be available in each category, which automatically makes it the best weapon in that category.
How was the selection made? To select the best weapons, we have looked at player reports and evaluated ratings from other sites. The colleagues from Dexerto have already gathered some data about the beta, while dotesports has provided some impressions from the alpha.
The best assault rifle: The M4A1
What weapons are available? In the assault rifle category, you have the largest selection with three different weapons: the M4A1, the AK-47, and the M13. One of the standard loadouts also includes the FR 5.56.
Which is the best weapon? Among the weapons that you can unlock here, the M4A1 is the strongest weapon. It surpasses the two competitors in most areas and is always the safer choice. Alternatively, the FR 5.56 is also good if you don’t want to customize your loadout.
What makes the M4A1 so strong: The M4A1 is the most versatile of the available weapons. It is useful at all ranges, has a fairly high rate of fire, and significantly less recoil than the AK-47, which, in turn, has slightly more penetration.
Due to its versatility, the M4A1 serves you well both in close-quarters combat at short distances, in alleys at medium distances, and even quite reliably on streets at longer distances.

The best SMG – The MP5
What weapons are available? In the submachine gun category, only two weapons are available: the MP5 and the MP7.
Which is the best weapon? Here too, there is a clear winner: the MP5. It is the better choice in almost all areas.
What makes the MP5 so strong: While both SMGs can shred enemies easily at short distances, the MP5 is noticeably more stable. With it, you have less recoil and can stay more accurate on target to deliver all bullets to the enemy.
Due to its lower recoil, the MP5 can also still be used effectively at medium distances, where the MP7’s spread makes it nearly useless. Its high rate of fire makes it especially lethal in close quarters.

The best shotgun – Model 680
What weapons are available? In the shotgun category, there are also only two weapons available before level 10: the Model 680 and the 725.
Which is the best weapon? Despite similar stats, the Model 680 is a bit stronger than the 725. However, the two weapons are close together, and both can have a similarly deadly effect in the right hands.
What makes the Model 680 so strong: Although the 725 has the stronger penetration and aims more accurately, the Model 680’s biggest advantage is its larger magazine. The 725 only has two shots in the chamber.
Since fights, especially at close range in Modern Warfare, can become hectic quickly, having a few extra shots often saves you, even if they hit less accurately. This makes the Model 680 somewhat stronger in this category.
If you are confident in your aim, you can also comfortably switch to the 725. Especially with attachments and adjusted through the Gunsmith tool, the 725 can also become a top shotgun.

The best pistol – .50 GS
What weapons are available? Among handguns, there are also only two variants available: the .50 GS and the M19.
Which is the best weapon? In the pistol class, the winner is again clearer. The .50 GS has the edge here.
What makes the .50 GS so strong: Compared to the M19, the .50 GS offers more damage and a greater range. This is particularly important in this category, as pistols usually come into play when a heated battle has emptied the magazine.
Because it deals more damage and is more accurate at range, you have a higher chance of taking down fleeing enemies with the .50 GS.
