PvP in the MMORPG TERA is multifaceted. You can challenge any player to a duel at any time, or from level 11 onward, try to sneak up on other players who have also reached level 11 (which is only possible in certain areas). Team deathmatches between groups are essentially possible anytime and everywhere. Additionally:
- There are several diverse battlegrounds and arenas in structured PvP where leaderboards with rewards are filled.
- There are special weapons and equipment specifically for PvP.
- Guilds can wage war against each other in GvG mode.
- There are PvP servers with specific rules that are more focused on player-versus-player battles (open PvP, etc.).
The outstanding action combat system in TERA is the main draw of the Asian MMORPG – it has long been regarded as a genre reference.
