After 3 years, Call of Duty is revising its Battle Pass for the new shooters Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2. You now have more control over the unlockable items and can even earn more CoD Points than before. MeinMMO explains the new system in detail.
Barely any live service game can do without it: the Battle Pass. You exchange playtime for in-game items or premium currency and pay for the pass once per live season.
The catch is: The items in the Battle Pass would be significantly more expensive individually. While some cosmetic bundles from CoD cost 20 Euros and provide 8 items, you get over 100 items in the Battle Pass for only about 10 Euros. But you have to play the game to get the items.
With CoD MW2 and Warzone 2, the Battle Pass is being revised; it now works less linearly. We embed the trailer for you and explain the details of the new Battle Pass system below:
CoD MW2 & Warzone 2: New Battle Pass System
The Battle Pass for Call of Duty costs 1,100 CoD Points, which is roughly 10 Euros. Some tiers are free, like the new weapons. However, most are locked behind this paywall.
In the past, progress was linear – the Battle Pass had 100 tiers, and you completed the so-called “tiers” from 1 to 100.
With Warzone 2 and CoD MW2, things look different now. You unlock “Battle Token Tier Skips,” have a sort of map in front of you, and can unlock sectors one after another.
Each sector on the Battle Pass map contains 5 items to unlock – when a sector is full, you unlock new sectors. Once you have completed all sectors on the map, you unlock the last sector, which reveals extra rewards.
This way, you can take different paths, and if you particularly like an item, you can progress through the sectors in that direction. Apparently, this has been inspired by Fortnite.
Furthermore, the Battle Pass is worthwhile for frequent-playing penny-pinchers. You receive 1,400 CoD Points from the pass and can earn 300 Points as a “profit”.
Small tip: If you fill the Battle Pass to the brim but haven’t purchased it yet, always buy it. You will then exchange the 1,100 CoD Points directly for 1,400 CoD Points.
